Twin Titans — When Japanese Mega Streetwear Brand BAPE® Meets the American Downtown Cool of Coach

  • By Bryan Goh

According to the internet and you guys (you guys seem to love Sunny Wang a lot), any collaboration with a Japanese streetwear titan is instantly cool. Their 2019 collection with Formula 1 was a hit even amongst those of us who only know of Lewis Hamilton (what about Niki Lauda?), a 2002 collaboration with Supreme still garners the high four-digits on eBay and even when they collaborate with head scratchers like Swarovski, it still rings the cash registers.

Their latest drop isn’t that much of a surprise considering BAPE®’s streetstyle comeback — their collaboration with Coach channels both labels’ shared spirit of authentic self-expression and urban style. Consisting of outerwear, ready-to-wear, footwear and leather goods, you’re going to want to zone in on pieces that mesh the best of both worlds — Coach’s Signature pattern that’s blended with BAPE®’s Ape Head logo. If you think it can’t get any more democratic, it comes in camouflage, khaki and rainbow jacquard.

If you’re wondering what you should cop come 22 February, we recommend the following — a leather puffer jacket, BAPESTATM sneakers in any colourway and backpacks in Coach’s Academy silhouette which feature the Ape Head Signature pattern. Have fun and good luck!
