With materiality as its forte, Tod’s introduces the Pashmy Project for FW24, drawing on the sensitivities of pashmina.
Superior materiality has been synonymous with the Tod’s DNA. This commitment to craft has always persisted and has been made even more acute under the leadership of Matteo Tamburini — who has guided the house in the direction of Artisanal Intelligence since his appointment last December. His debut collection for Fall Winter 2024 showcased this to a T, where the heritage house has taken tactile refinement to new heights, and with new sensitivities. Evolutionarily, the brand’s classic Italian style still runs strong throughout the collection but has since been marked by a quiet yet palpable sense of newness. This innovation is most keenly felt through touch — rather than sight — where the experience of heightened sensibilities is noteworthy in each interaction with the latest collection.
Propelling this drive ahead is the Pashmy Project, the latest in the house’s study of artisanship. Launched in tandem with the release of its FW24 collection, Pashmy sees the house exalt materials that have been unanimously declared to be most exclusive, most rare, and above all, most precious. Derivative from the delicateness of pashmina, the Pashmy focus runs parallel to the soft material. Now explored in the suppleness of suede, leather and more, the softness of pashmina is reimposed in the house’s luxuriant know-how.
Take the classic silhouette of a Bomber Jacket, for instance. Rather than its usual make of heavy-duty leather or a tougher-than-steel nylon ripstop, Tod’s opts to take on a sleek lambskin suede to fashion this versatile garment for the season. Comfort and style are thus not compromises a wearer has to choose between. Instead, they are melded together — expertly, we may add — in a cohesive vision of a modern, contemporary sportiness, and in an artisanal process that again reiterates the house’s skilful craft. Elsewhere in the Pashmy collection are staples in the likes of leather-made sneakers, the plush Di Bag, and even the louder-than-usual Bubble Gommino, all of which still remain reverential to the label’s long-standing commitment to understated elegance, but further the tactile journey with each feel.
