The thing about Bulgari’s leather goods for men is that they’re what we call a micro status symbol. Not because they’re not the stuff of grails or that they’re unrecognisable but because they’re somewhat an anchor to the past (sort of ’90s in their silhouette) and more often than not, a flex compared to ones to other Houses.

With the Bulgari Man Leather Goods Collection (Tomohisa Yamashita pictured above is carrying a key piece), the Italian House is has one eye in the past and one in the future. The former, a reference to iconic styles that still have relevance in today’s digital age and the latter, fresh colours, new materials and a more green-loving approach to the pieces.

The Tote Bag.
The Belt Bag.
The Camera Bag.
The Messenger Bag.
The Backpack.

With simple names — Camera Bag, Backpack or Messenger — each of the 13 pieces from the Bulgari Man Leather Goods Collection play on what the brand calls a “bi-material” combination between grainy and smooth metal free calf leather. Each leather hide comes from Leather Working Group certified tanneries too where its production methods revolve around environmental performance.

Beyond the make of the materials used for its body, the interior and details too are enviromenntally sustainable. The lining of the bags are done in an Olympian Sapphire ECONYL® regenerated nylon while the sewing threads, zipper tapes and straps are made from 100% recycled polyester.

“The concept of the shoot was ‘an extension of Tomohisa Yamashita’s everyday life’ so I felt relaxed going into it. In your journey through life, I wish that Bulgari bags will take you to places where your dreams come true” says Yamashita himself, the ambassador for Bulgari. And dreams are ones that can perhaps, become quite lasting because after all, even the packaging for the Bulgari leather goods collection are made with preserving the Earth in mind. The packaging and its box are 100% bamboo fibres from responsibly managed forests.

The 13-piece collection will be released at the following points of sale. Bulgari ION, Bulgari Taka, Bulgari MBS, and online. Or, click here to catch up with our April 2022 issue.
