Narysal Is Taking Things "Fast Slow"
The winner of *SCAPE and Mediacorp’s Best New Artist 2021, Narysal’s next big move could have been engineering an expansive EP or flexing the title itself. However, as Narysal mentions himself below: he takes things slowly because the art of making music is an artform itself.

Here, Narysal takes us through his latest single “Fast Slow”.

Hi Narysal, how’s it going?
Hi, I’ve been really busy making new music and also preparing for my single release which is happening very soon!

From “Fade Away” to “Sorry” and now “Fast Slow”, do you think the two singles are sort of, you know, a series of chapters?
There’s definitely a series of chapters from “Fade Away” to “Fast Slow” and my upcoming releases.

These songs are like a part of me and my story and the songs will accumulate into a self-titled EP that will touch on topics close to my heart.

With the “Best New Artist” award last year, do you feel some kind of pressure to perform? Or are you generally a cool guy?
Honestly, I’m still in disbelief that I won the award, and nope, no pressure at all.

The thing about “Fast Slow” is that it kind of really goes against what dating is like now. Couples can be quite quick to plan milestones after just getting together. What inspired you to write the song?
People nowadays tend to rush into things which is why this song is kind of like a reminder to just go with the flow and let things take its course.

Come to think of it, how did it take one year for the song to come together? Do you perhaps, prefer to launch things when you are ready?
A lot of planning goes into a song such as ideation, creation, and production! There are many things to finetune down from the melody to the lyrics. Besides, I have been planning to release a song during my birthday month!

What do you think, is the iconic “Narysal” sound then? How do you recognise that it’s immediately one?
The “Narysal” sound is like a mix of old and new; old school melodies and lyrics with a new school sound!

What is next for you then?
I will be releasing more singles in the following months and hope to produce an EP by 2023!

Lastly, out of curiosity, what was the #1 most played song on your Spotify last year?
Heartbreaker by Tank.
