One thing is certain thus far — Balenciaga understands the allure of the unusual. Where others see an imperfection, the fashion house looks at it with satisfaction.

Its newly launched Cargo Sneakers embodies this idea wholly. With its unsuspecting appearance, it only subtly demands attention from its wearer by boasting an exaggerated silhouette; a way only creative director Demna knows how. It even comes in a distinctly worn-out effect, and it is these touches of character and lived-in feel that help add to its unique charm.

But form aside, the sneakers were made for actual wearing. A combination of microfibre and mesh offers both comfort and breathability, complementing its design’s relaxed and unpretentious nature. And if it does not scream Balenciaga enough, a logo engraved on a metallic plate on its upper side, and on the outsole, back, and tongue makes it known that the idea of being big and loud can also be effortlessly cool, and sometimes, comfortable too.
