Despite the frivolity and the sometimes fussiness, the out-of-this-world versus the down-to-earth-vintage-inspired-things or the sheer glamour versus old-work-tackiness, one can’t deny that Alessandro Michele is perfectly capable of conjuring up happiness in a tactile form.
For the Gucci Love Parade show in Los Angeles, this concept of happiness was a behemoth of a show, 115 looks that will take up to an hour of your time. But lest you baulk at its bulkiness, this length — quite an anomaly in today’s fashion climate we must say — telegraphs Michele’s approach to fashion.
