The Gucci Love Parade Show Was a Directional Vision of Happiness

The Gucci Love Parade Show Was a Directional Vision of Happiness
Alessandro Michele taking the final bow at the Gucci Love Parade show.

Despite the frivolity and the sometimes fussiness, the out-of-this-world versus the down-to-earth-vintage-inspired-things or the sheer glamour versus old-work-tackiness, one can’t deny that Alessandro Michele is perfectly capable of conjuring up happiness in a tactile form.

For the Gucci Love Parade show in Los Angeles, this concept of happiness was a behemoth of a show, 115 looks that will take up to an hour of your time. But lest you baulk at its bulkiness, this length — quite an anomaly in today’s fashion climate we must say — telegraphs Michele’s approach to fashion. No matter the geographical location or the cultural influences one looks towards, there will be something for him or her.

Call it democratic if you will because at the end of the day, everybody is invited into the Gucci universe. You can be a regular white collar worker but the Gucci Love Parade show will have something for you: razor-sharp tailoring with a handsome pair of brogues. You can moonlight as a fashion collector as part of your second life and the collection is rife with things for you to add to your archive. You could even just be like us, a simple person who just likes fashion and yes, you’ll enjoy sieving through 115 looks to find that one exacting holy grail.

While Michele has decided to call on the glamour of Hollywood for the Gucci Love Parade show (an homage to his mother who worked as a production assistant), here, 10 looks we found relevant no matter where you are in the world. Call it what we do: a ticket to happiness.

Look 14: Nobody gets upset on the dance floor if they’re wearing something high-shine and the pussy bow is back this season, a nod to Michele’s first show.

Look 33: The Gucci Love Parade show proves that glamour and tackiness can be on the same side of the coin. As for the bag, consider it another neu-vintage hit next year.

Look 42: Only Michele is capable of making a neon Barbie pink that desirable.

Look 62: The track meets motocross suit is going to be really big next season. You heard it here first.

Look 64: Even when Michele is proposing something simple, it’s stylistically effective. Case in point: the Gucci Love Parade show encourages bare chests with the stomach covered with a vest.

Look 74: Another micro-trend for Spring Summer 2022, the bike tights for men.

Look 84: You’re going to see celebrities wearing this a lot next season and with good reason.

Look 94: Even when a look is out there at Gucci, it’s still down to earth. Case in point: we can count four pockets in this look.

Look 104: Another micro-trend for the season? Clogs. Yes, the nurse-meets-chef favoured shoe gets the Gucci treatment (finally!).

Look 106: Sometimes, the thrill of a Gucci show isn’t about spotting physical trends. It’s about spotting gestures and the Love Parade one = nonchalantly putting your hands in your pockets with a bag tucked into your arms.
