Bottega Veneta Wardrobe 02 Has Some New Menswear Ideas

  • By Bryan Goh

Look 11 from the Bottega Veneta 02 Wardrobe collection comes in a neon green, a positive colour amidst the doom and gloom of things.

Daniel Lee, the creative director of Bottega Veneta has engineered the Italian House’s codes down to one simple statement — its clothes have to be as wonderfully tasteful as it has to be easy to wear. Let’s be clear with the latter: the simplicity of Daniel Lee’s collection for Bottega Veneta 02 Wardrobe is what makes it that great. It’s not heavily pushing boundaries per say (no themes like ninjas or spies here, folks) and that is what makes it easy for anybody to comprehend. You don’t need an encyclopaedic knowledge of fashion to slip into one of the collection’s suits and neither do you need to consult a friend with a mirror selfie.

All you have to do really, is to just purchase a piece and love it for the many years to come — that is a menswear proposition we can get behind.

Here, the looks we loved from the Bottega Veneta 02 Wardrobe collection.

Look 13:
The humorous shade of neon green punctuates itself in the entire collection. Right down to the return of the clutch but this time, woven in the House’s classic intrecciato weave.

Look 18:
The most “fashionable” proposition from the Bottega Veneta Wardrobe 02 collection? A jumpsuit that cinches snugly around the waist.

Look 12:
Another Daniel Lee trope, the most fashion-inclined way to elevate a piece is to engineer a simple detail. In this case, a parka comes with a fuzzy shearling lined hood.

Look 26:
The rap gods are going to love this 1990s inflected nappa leather ensemble and the everyday people like us can consider the pieces as building blocks for our wardrobe.

Look 29:
Neon green stripes run horizontally as they do vertically. Perhaps, signalling the forward-moving energy of the collection.

Look 31:
We can’t write about the neon green in the Bottega Veneta 02 Wardrobe collection without referencing Oscar the Grouch. He’ll keep warm with these fuzzy mitts.

Look 32:
Another nod to the original Wardrobe 01 collection, the pleasure of wearing something comfortable at home. This time round, a pair of shearling slippers have been added.

Look 39:
Another slow warming trend for menswear, the shoulder bag that sits close to one’s armpit.

Look 60:
City slicker from a patent leather trench down to the squared-toed boots.
