#ManCrushMonday — Cha Eun Woo Is Statuesque In All Black At DiorASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo is a walking statue in a classy and ageless all-black Dior Men look at the Maison’s Korea Seonsu concept store.

Dressing in black from head-to-toe might not seem the most ideal in our climate, but it sure is a look worth pursuing for a plethora of reasons. From needing minimal effort, being anti-fashion-faux-pas to complementing every body type and skin tone, it is arguably fashion at its most timeless and foolproof.

The science of why monochrome dressing is “universally flattering” is because it creates a single, unbroken line that furthers an illusion of height for almost any body. It’s also about the confidence to commit to a single shade, case in point being ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo en tout noir while viewing the Dior Men Winter 2022 collection at the Maison’s Korea Seonsu concept store.

But true power in monochrome dressing lies in the play of textures. While the Dior Beauty ambassador is a breathtaking sight to behold in and of itself, what makes his stature even more godly is creative director Kim Jones’ deft play of fabric, using the single tone to vary textures and flaunt Cha’s Golden Ratio proportions.

While both the mock neck knit and the asymmetrically wrapped pants are made of wool, they are different fabrics; the top is made of Punto Milano, a smooth and elastic knitted fabric used sometimes in in sportswear; the bottom is made of gabardine, a versatile, compact and fixed-sized material used in uniforms.

Placing these similar textures together on relaxed silhouettes gives nods to both the contemporary Man’s fondness for the ease of athleisure and Dior’s iconic tailoring, making dressing well seem deceivingly simple. So give it a shot; grab a black top and bottom with different textures, and see what you can create. You might end up surprising yourself with how much you enjoy this quick and effective process, achieving suave style sans all the stress.
