This month’s fashion fix delivers on the allure of fashion’s most prized possessions.

Designers have operated their salons as veritable laboratories shaping the future of menswear with alternating ideas that consistently question the role and identity of modern masculinity. A contemporary subset of this movement led by Alessandro Michele successfully developed a format at Gucci that cleverly blurs gender associations in modern fashion. The Love Parade collection, glimmering as one of Michele’s best, highlights a stimulating sense of directness and intelligence with a revived form of dressing that can exist between genders.

None dispels this more than the offerings of leather goods and bags within the collection. Within it, the Gucci Beloved line makes a comeback as the GG Marmont, Gucci Diana, and Gucci Horsebit 1955 were reinterpreted with the codes of the collection. Its new iteration of bags, however — such as the Blondie and Attache — stands out amongst the rest. The Attache from the Gucci Beloved line, in particular, is multifunctional featuring a web strap (which doubles as a sling) in the House’s GG supreme canvas, leather, and suede variants in both small and medium sizes.  Its soft construction and G clasp makes it an ideal, vintage-esque bag for both genders and is now available in stores.

Beyond Just Textures
Those who closely follow Bottega Veneta might notice a surreal, towelling variant of the intrecciato artwork has been subtly explored on a few limited edition bags, swimwear, and even the lining of some jackets. It was one of the many textile developments Daniel Lee developed while he was creative director, and the House has taken his textural spin and expanded it as a capsule collection in the iconic Kelly Green.

The Bottega Veneta Towelling capsule for Fall’22 features a jacquard technique that recreates the intrecciato pattern in woven and knitwear categories that offers a relaxed, down-to-earth attitude. It’s soft-to-the-touch, yet compact and comfortable-to-wear material is designed in the silhouettes of summer attire and is exclusively available at the House’s Marina Bay Sands boutique.

A Cut Above
High jewellery has always had its moments in men’s fashion. Ancient kings were the first to adorn precious gems dating the tradition back more than 75,000 years ago, before hip-hop in the the 1980s employed ‘bling’ to express allegiance and status. However, its mainstream interest has yet to redefine gender associations. The Bvlgari Eden The Gardens of Wonders collection, a stimulated offering of high jewellery from the luxury titan, might change that.

With coloured gems seeing an increase in interest on the men’s runways, the collection’s Eden Enchantment necklace is one of the collection’s most outstanding pieces. A multi- coloured foray of precious gems inspired by the Mediterranean took a total of 1,300 hours of work to complete. The Serpenti Ocean Treasure necklace, which guards a tantalising cornflower blue sapphire of 61.31 carats, is as fitting for men as it is for women.

Talking Points
Across the seven collections Matthew M. Williams has produced for Givenchy thus far, a faint thread binds them all. From the variety of technical wonders in design to invigorating the House with hints of youth cultures, none dispels the notion of uncreativeness at Williams’ Givenchy more than the new Givenchy TK-360 sneaker — an engineering marvel set to change the way one thinks of footwear innovation.

Reappearing in the Fall/Winter ’22 collection, the TK-360 sneakers use completely new, state-of-the-art technology. Its bold, custom-moulded silhouette features a classic stretch knit upper fully integrated with the sole, making it possible to walk directly on the knit. A singular thread motif ensures an exclusive footprint, while subtle plays on texture and contrasting Givenchy lettering complete this daring style.

Most designer sneakers are often regarded as possessions to flaunt and flatter, rather than as a functional pair of shoes to work out in. For Fall/Winter ’22, Silvia Venturi Fendi offers a glimmer when both aspects are considered with the new Fendi Faster sneakers. The new trainer, designed in an attentive mix of mesh and technical fabrics utilises a transparent rubber sole which decreases its weight and is a lightweight construction of a modern sneaker.

Its appeal on the street lies in the 3D FF logo on the top of the Fendi Faster sneaker, and its use of jacquard, which gives it the distinctive Fendi look.
