Men’s Folio at Watches & Wonders 2024: Round Up

  • By Asaph Low

It was a flurry of activities at Watches & Wonders 2024 last week as the world’s most prestigious brands exhibited their novelty releases for 2024. Men’s Folio had the privilege to attend the trade show in person and had the chance to come up close with some of the most spectacular pieces. While it was not possible to review every single piece, we picked out the big talking points from each watchmaker in the daily highlights. Here is a compilation of everything Watches & Wonders 2024 related for your easy reading.

Rolex

As with every year, all eyes were on Rolex as aficionados and collectors alike waited in eager anticipation for the newly Coronet-stamped pieces. Whether or not the pieces lived up to your expectations is a separate matter, but here are Rolex’s four heavy hitters this year.

Watches & Wonders 2024 Day 1

The fair began in a blur as people from the media, retailers and exhibiting brands swarmed the Palexpo, Geneva, to kickstart the start of a hectic four-day window. We began with Richemont classics Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC Schaffhausen and Montblanc, and LVMH mainstay TAG Heuer on Day 1 of Watches & Wonders 2024.

Montblanc

Montblanc’s strong showing in Geneva was compounded by releasing the Montblanc Iced Sea 0 Oxygen Deep 4810. After debuting their first dive watch in 2022, the 300m water-resistant Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date, Montblanc made a huge leap with a 4810m water-resistant dive watch this year. Here is a detailed report of the Montblanc Iced Sea 0 Oxygen Deep 4810.

Watches & Wonders 2024 Day 2

Watches & Wonders Day 2 began with perennial heavyweights Patek Philippe and A. Lange & Söhne flexing their watchmaking might. Patek Philippe’s technical reveal was the Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 5330G-001, while A. Lange & Söhne gave the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon the “Lumen” touch. Zenith’s Extreme lineup of watches continued with the launch of the Zenith DEFY Extreme Diver on Day 2 of Watches & Wonders 2024.

Chanel

Chanel unveils its thematic Chanel Couture O’Clock collection in Geneva, where Gabrielle Chanel’s world of Haute Couture converges with Haute Horlogerie. Chanel Couture O’Clock pays tribute to Gabrielle Chanel’s creative haven, the Rue Cambon atelier, and the multitude of tools that, stitch by stitch, imbues each garment with timeless elegance, sophistication and refinement.

Watches & Wonders 2024 Day 3

A bevvy of technical launches headlined the third day as Panerai and Bell & Ross launched purpose-built watches for the year. Both brands had titanium pieces as their big launches, with Panerai working closely with Luna Rossa for a special titanium-based ceramic watch, while the Bell & Ross BR X-5 was rendered in a rough-out titanium case. That was interjected by the Hermès Cut, the feminine alternative to the highly popular Hermès H08.

Hublot

Speaking of technical launches, Hublot once again showcased their expertise in sapphire crystal watches as they launched the Hublot Big Bang MP-11 14-Day Power Reserve Water Blue Sapphire and Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire in Geneva. While both pieces are not new to the portfolio, the unique case constructions lend the watches a different dimension of crystal clarity.

Vacheron Constantin

This year at Watches & Wonders Geneva, Vacheron Constantin’s theme of “From Geometry to Artistry” comes alive through the realisation of geometric and arithmetic sketches and calculations. The maison’s now emblematic Overseas finds a new addition with the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon and is joined by the wrist-friendly Vacheron Constantin Patrimony.

Watches & Wonders 2024 Day 4

Favourites Tudor and Grand Seiko closed the last day of Watches & Wonders 2024 with two of the best launches this year. Fans call for a GMT iteration of the Tudor Black Bay 58 were heard with the launch of the Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT. Grand Seiko’s White Birch now has a new manual winding brother with the nature inspired Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Collection SLGW003 “Birch Bark”.
