For Versace Fall Winter 2021, Donatella Versace did not tap into the hedonistic ways of the 1980s and neither did she tap into the Y2K era that Gen Z has discovered. Armed with a new monogram La Greca (a nod to the brand’s heritage Greek Key pattern), she looked specifically to the free-wheeling era that was the 1970s. The summer of love, the Me decade, the emancipation of youths from the staid rules society has enforced on them.

But what is a Versace show without some sex appeal — the baring of biceps or the chest. These two propositions were still available at Versace Fall Winter 2021 (for the ladies, tanned legs above spindly platforms is the new look) but body skimming tailoring is in. The way a refined wool suit gently hugs the body without clinging too closely. A graffiti Medusa smiley peers cheerfully over a jacket — a signifier of celebration, freedom and tearing up the dance floor.

Here, eight of our favourite looks from the Versace Fall Winter 2021 show. Let’s dance, again, like we did before.

Look 7:
A tonal shade of brown refreshes itself as the new neutral. The Versace Fall Winter 2021 man also has now realised the carry-all appeal of the tote.

Look 13:
The genius of the La Greca monogram isn’t solely in its youth appeal. It’s in how it can be worn head to toe without being overwhelming.

Look 27:
The iconic acid colours of the house gets tempered down at the Versace Fall Winter 2021 — utilitarian in design and form.

Look 40:
The La Greca makes another appearance. As a shirt or sweater print and if one has keen eyes, on a small leather good.

Look 43:
Even in a full suit, the La Greca print is able to subtly whisper design appeal without shouting.

Look 46:
At the show, a new grooming proposition for bad hair days — the headscarf.

Look 52:
Never a Versace show without the bodacious showing of skin. The muscle sweater clings tight to the body, showing off your fruitful hours at the gym.

Look 56: The subtle sexiness of the Versace Fall Winter 2021 show — a gauzy overshirt worn as it is, or as the perfect layering piece over a muscle tank.
