Rimowa and Adidas Originals unite to celebrate German innovation with a limited-edition collaboration.

In a never before seen collaboration between two frontrunners of the contemporary innovation game, Rimowa and Adidas Originals present two utilitarian and stylish creations — Rimowa’s first aluminium backpack, the NMD_Backpack and the Adidas NMD_S1 sneaker.

Expressed in a colour palette of khaki and the lustrous shade of titanium, these outdoor-inspired pieces flaunt orange accents that make them youthful and adventurous in look. Inspired by a renewed need to look for fulfilment in new places, the collection was created for urbanites who seek to meaningfully reconnect with natural landscapes. The backpack boasts new technical solutions that make it suitable for outdoor needs and overnight trips.

Made from Rimowa’s signature grooved aluminium, the bag is equipped with padded utility shoulder straps that come with a carabiner and thumb loops, allowing the bag to rope weight-bearing straps and grab handles. Complete with foam ridges inspired by the Adidas boost foam on the grooved surface, and an elasticated webbing that runs through the middle, the backpack is comfortable and convenient to bring around since it can also be secured onto the suitcase’s telescopic tubes.

Additionally, a detachable gusset opens the backpack to reveal two deep zipped pockets and a 16-inch laptop pocket, both to optimize the bag for easy flat-packing.

As for the Adidas NMD_S1, the futuristic sneaker’s signature Primeknit uppers come in a titanium-inspired colourway, with the flexible Adidas Boost midsole in a light, almost translucent base colour. The sole’s midsole is adorned by the coordinates of the brands’ respective headquarters in Germany, with a “made in Germany” imprint that celebrates the serendipitous partnership. All this is topped off with NMD shoelaces that come in the same orange as the accents of the backpack, to tie the two creations together under the same collection.

Exclusively made in Germany, this cross-category collection spotlights the two leaders of different industries in an illuminating way, coming together to prove that the multiplier effect is valid and prominent in the two brands’ shared sense of intelligent and responsible design thinking.
