The exact Celine bag S.COUPS is flexing? It’s called the Large Zipped Belt Bag Trekking in nylon.
By now, one would already be familiar with the fashion vernacular of Hedi Slimane, the designer powerhouse behind Celine. Or, as the TikTokers call him: a true g. The interesting thing, however, behind the French House’s machinations is not that he moves products based on esoteric qualities or by hopping on the trend wagon. Instead, Slimane is simply making clothes, accessories, and shoes to sell them and with the cultural know-how he has amassed, is able to style them to make them look desirable.
While industry goers have noted that he has somewhat returned the House to its roots — the chic sportswear, overtly bourgeois pieces, and lower-key takes on minimalism — it can be simply said that Slimane is great at elevating the everyday and making it look super cool.
The Celine “Boy Doll” show is proof of Slimane’s genius: take the everyday pieces recognised by the boomers and Gen Z-ers, add a small twist to elevate them into lux-stratospheres and then, send it straight to stores.
While the Celine look is already galvanised in the annals of fashion history — a turtleneck under a sweater, a hoodie or a jean jacket, and a leather jacket worn with denim jeans — the bag worn above by S.COUPS telegraphs another budding look that Slimane has created for the house.
Titled the Large Zipped Belt Bag, teenagers will hanker to flex it because well, it is Celine and says so. The millenials? They’d lean into the 90’s references that are filled with youthful joy. As for the boomers? The bag, like most of Slimane’s offerings, allows them to go hands-free. And that is a manner of styling and design that works for everybody.
