House colours. They are the subliminal logos embedded across advertising campaigns, small leather goods, and shopping bags without the use of any letters. Across fashion’s vast landscape, house colours assert a sense of dominion as showcases of recognition that is inherently privy to influence, with simple hues crafting long-standing identities for fashion’s largest players. On the streets, these colours sublimate one’s own personality into a model of strength, resilience, and grace.

For Gucci, the iconic red and green tones adapted from the Italian flag reflect a sense of austerity, opulence, and understated glamour in the last few decades. Ever since the 1970s, they were lined on flagship bags, watches, and wallets — and are ever so familiar even for those who unsubscribe to fashion’s lure.

Beyond the flashes of the binary Gucci tones lies a secret that has been procured ever since Alessandro Michele helmed the role of artistic director — a longstanding love affair with deep, navy blue. This midnight shade has long appeared in the shadows as Gucci’s informal house colour. It traces back to the look that started it all with the Tom Ford–era Gucci blue velvet suit from the Fall 1996 collection that has swept its way as fashion Twitter’s sacrality, appearing sporadically on bags in the mid-2010s, before finally appearing as a standalone in the House’s new GG canvas in the Gucci Blu collection of accessories for Spring/Summer ’22.

A timeless mix of blue and beige, the new colourway first appeared in the Love Parade collection in timeless designs — the Ophidia line, Jackie 1961, Horsebit 1955, and the Dionysus all feature the new incantation. Landing in stores this month, the new Gucci Blu collection intoxicates as a secret emblem for the House of Gucci.

Collaborations continue to give rise to fashion’s main strategy for success today except for the Fendi by Versace, Versace by Fendi collection which is anything but a collaboration and marketing stunt. The two Italian Houses have lent each other their history, DNA, and name in a cross-pollination of ideas and techniques that make the capsule collection a possibility of dialogues in fashion.

With a series of Fendi clothes imagined by creative director Donatella Versace and Versace clothes imagined by recently-appointed artistic director Kim Jones, the result are two distinct takes on each House.

Versace by Fendi is a celebrity-infused pop culture call-back to a time the House dominated boulevards of hotels with its logo clad on celebrities’ arms. While Fendi by Versace leans in on a punk rock stance, with disruption as a key attitude, and features a new interpretation of the FF monogram. Together, its virtuosity lies in a series of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories with all 57 made available in both boutiques in Singapore.

The subtle, gratuitous way in which Bottega Veneta operates has always set them free. They are punctuations that are never startling and relish in deep thought about the way things should be seen and felt. To continue the story of Salon 03 set against the premise of the city of Detroit and its rich history in electronic music, the House has launched a series of music series with NTS radio.

Having kicked off in April and continuing every month throughout 2022, NTS x Bottega Veneta will be opening up new conversations between NTS residents and guest stars through a series of collaboratively produced musical soundscapes, airing under the new title of Bottega Radio. The first episode featured autotune enthusiast Tim Zha a.k.a Organ Tapes working together with L.A’s Jazmin, an expert in Latin music and resident host for NTS show Como La Flor. More is to follow soon.
