The great JB fit: a silk shantung Saint Laurent shirt worn over a linen jersey tank top and skinny jeans.
Close your eyes for a moment and let the image of what Anthony Vaccarello has done for the House of Saint Laurent percolate around in your brain. If a black skinny suit comes to mind, you’re correct. If your mind has the sheer specificity to think about loucheness — the very same Morocco to Coachella and back to Paris aesthetic Monsieur Saint Laurent had pioneered himself — then good, you’ve essentially nailed the Saint Laurent Spring Summer 2021 collection down to a word.

In place of the destination showing of the previous Saint Laurent Spring/Summer collections — 2019 in Manhattan and 2020 in Malibu — creative director, Anthony Vaccarello curated a Saint Laurent Men’s Spring Summer 2021 project. Titled “No Matter How Long The Night Is”, Vaccarello’s message was one of hope — “Breathing, reaching the horizon, looking at the future, no matter how long the night is. Over the skies and the architectures of Paris, New York, and Beijing, a constant attraction redefines gravity.”
Basically, Vaccarello is welcoming up back to the great outdoors. Besides JB’s flashy Saint Laurent fit, the collection was a nod to how we like our clothing today — more for the couch than the club. Blazers fashioned like they were textiles from a Moroccan rug, floor-length Hawaiian shirts worn over crisp black shorts and fancy knits worn over shoulders.
But let’s not forget the iconic suit. This season, the fit is more relaxed. Shrunken almost to give you the capacity to move your shoulders and kick your legs. Easier, looser and more liberated, we highly recommend copping one on the brand’s site today.
