Louis Vuitton and Timberland Romanticise The Quintessential American

It’s finally here!

A homage to America.

Back in January’s Paris Fashion Week, Pharrell Williams unveiled at his Fall-Winter 2024 show a collaboration with the cult-followed work-boot brand loved by ‘90s hip-hop legends and the labourer alike — Timberland. Famously donned by the likes of Notorious B.I.G, Tupac and Jennifer Lopez (in her Jenny from the Block music video) the Timberland had solidified itself as a staple work boot for the New Yorkian star that wished to keep in touch with their urban roots. It was sturdy and rugged, the perfect combination of attitude and style. The question of its resurgence became not a matter of if but when the boot would make its luxury renewal in the modern era.

So it came to be that cowboy-hat-clad models would strut down the Louis Vuitton Western-themed runway in bootcut jeans that made space not for the horse-riding shoe but rather LV-monogram Timberlands. Of course, in classic shades of black and yellow. In black-tinted trunks, the iconic Timberland tree was sported atop the classic Louis Vuitton brown leather motif

Six months later the collaborators have finally unveiled the release of their capsule workwear collection — three iterations of the Louis Vuitton x Timberland Boot included. The LV 6-Inch, LV Boot and LV 6-Inch Exceptional Edition each meld the savoir-faire of the French Maison with the emblematic utilitarian design of the American Timberland boot.

Premium leather is bountiful in the capsule — Italian nubuck, black-grained and wheat-coloured, a palette rooted heavily in brown, black and beige tones. The collection presents itself as an ode to hardy utilitarian workwear like the trucker jacket, the work boot, and even the handy toolbox – reimagined through Louis Vuitton’s iconic Keepall bag

A modern conjuration of the 1960s European love for the masculine Western gun-slinger, this time the collaborators romanticise the quintessential American: the cowboy and blue-collar worker. With a campaign set against the backdrop of the Appalachian-like wintery outdoors, the durability of the capsule’s design is put front and centre, while boasting the unparalleled meticulousness of the Maison.

The collection has been pre-launched on LouisVuitton.com and the LV App and will be available at the Louis Vuitton Marina Bay Sands Island Maison on 8 August 2024.
