This Week In Collabs: Seeing Double with Stüssy, Eastpak and New Balance

  • By Vanessa Ng

From Stüssy X Tekla and Stüssy X Nike to Eastpak’s partnerships with Vivienne Westwood and Clarks, shop the high-profile collaborations you might have missed.

“Two is better than one” is the prevailing theme for this week in collaborations.

Stüssy is tag-teaming with both Tekla and Nike for extensions into homeware and sneakers, while Timberland X A-COLD-WALL* approaches the formula with a second coming. Meanwhile, New Balance has teased dual partnerships with Aimé Leon Dore and WTAPS, expanding its variety into Japanese street and modernist New York identities. And what’s streetwear without a skate/surf/snow reference? On top of Levi’s and ERL’s Venice-beach crossover, Supreme returns with an iteration of Rammellzee Dunks in partnership with Nike.

It’s been a busy week of collaborations. So strap in and scroll for the run-down — you just might find your next grail.

1. Stüssy X Nike Vandal Noma

After the Air Zoom, Air Force 1, and most recent Air Penny, streetwear label Stüssy teams up yet again with Nike for the Vandal Noma silhouette. Inspired by NOMA t.d.’s hand-dyed textiles, the colour way of indigo denim, pink and white sees a playful coexistence of the iconic Stüssy swirls and the emblematic swoosh.

Stüssy X Nike Vandal Noma is available for purchase online and at Stüssy’s Harajuku Chapter from 1 September.

2. Stüssy X Tekla

Another follow up for the Cali skate/surf label, Stüssy’s collaboration with Tekla Fabrics is a breath of fresh air in the otherwise sneaker-cum-apparel dominated partnership space. For the collection, linens and loungewear are treated with subdued vibrancy in colours and prints.

Stüssy X Tekla is available for purchase online and at select Stüssy Chapters from 1 September.

3. Supreme X Nike SB Rammellzee Dunks

One of Tremaine Emory’s last Supreme collaborations to come to fruition, Supreme X Nike SB returns for a Rammellzee-focused collection. Shaping up in the skate-forward Dunks silhouette (yes, it’s available in both high and low-top variations), the collaborative capsule sees the late visual artist’s work printed onto the shoes’ canvas upper bases.

Supreme X Nike SB Rammellzee Dunks are available for purchase online, from 31 August.

4. WTAPS X New Balance 990v6 Made In USA

Tetsu Nishiyama’s WTAPS is teaming up for another greyscale release with New Balance. The 900v6 silhouette receives a tonal colour-blocking treatment and an addition of WTAPS’ logo onto its heel clips, while the vamp does away with the standard model number in favour of block “USA” lettering — to signpost its premium construction in being a subset of New Balance’s Made in USA line.

WTAPS X New Balance 990v6 is available for purchase online, or at Dover Street Market Singapore from September 1.

5. Aimé Leon Dore X New Balance T500

A sequel to a stirring partnership — the duo’s 550s were met with serious online virality — NYC-label Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance have teased a new collaboration, to be materialised in the T500 low-cut court silhouette. In the campaign, tennis starlet Coco Gauff models the collection, one that features the same signature palette of rich deep greens, reds and blues.

ALD X New Balance have yet to confirm a release date. To be updated, head online to subscribe to Aimé Leon Dore’s mailing list.

6. Eastpak X Vivienne Westwood

A cosmic collaboration to note. Vivienne Westwood’s Planets print first came to life on its SS19 runway, and now has expanded into the world of Eastpak’s array of bags. The print is emblazoned on backpacks, shoulder bags and duffles — all crafted with recycled materials and synthetic leather.

Eastpak X Vivienne Westwood is now available for purchase online.

7. Eastpak X Clarks Torhill Zip

If the Vivienne Westwood X Eastpak collaboration honours the latter’s signature product, the Eastpak X Clarks version takes on the nitty-gritty details, applied precisely to the icons of the Wallabee and the Big Gripper. Available in black and red, the capsule draws on a full Eastpak’s waterproof canvas body and signature cord rope zips in construction.

Eastpak X Clarks Torhill Zip is available for purchase online or at Clarks stores islandwide.

8. Timberland X A-COLD-WALL*

Samuel Ross infuses A-COLD-WALL*’s utilitarianism to Timberland’s boat shoes and boots. The second collaboration to follow between the two focuses on an achromatic kind of cool, made practical with upgraded features like waterproof GORE-TEX durability and a ripstop woven upper.

A-COLD-WALL* X Timberland is available for purchase online, from August 29.

9. Canada Goose X ROKH x Matt McCormick

For the first of Canada Goose’s series of collaborations lined up for FW23, the winterwear label taps onto silhouettes from ROKH’s “Office Essentials” collection and McCormick’s Western-inspired art. Bright, colourful designs are lent to classical trench coats and jackets, made weather-appropriate by the expertise of Canada Goose’s climate-oriented tech.

10. Palace X Salomon

Salomon’s XT-WINGS 2 is getting tweaked to Palace’s skate sensibilities. In black and white colour ways, the classic hikers receive chromatic co-branding around its heel, and now see the original rainbow-hued tongue treated with Palace’s branding. The revision of the XT-WINGS 2 is not new though — prior to this, JJJJound and END. have both had a go at redesigning the best-seller.

The Palace X Salomon XT-WINGS 2 can be purchased online from September 1 and in select Salomon outlets from September 9.
