Dream A Little Dream of Dew - Men's Folio

Dream A Little Dream of Dew

Dreams have the power to alter reality, and our May 2025 cover star and actor Jirawat Sutivanichsak — also known as Dew — questions them with bluntness and guarded optimism despite having spent half a decade in the spotlight.

What would draw you back to a place you have never set foot before? How do you embrace a fragment of memory you can barely piece together — one that felt so real and yet had no possibility of ever happening. Dreams, it seems, have the power of manifestation, to take you to places you never imagined you could be. Reaching the heights of such reverie requires more than just a restful night, and you usually get there when you least ask for it. Like being lulled to sleep by the heat and monotony of a long drive — dangerous and yet, somehow, also “best kind of slumber.

We had learnt in our last interview with Jirawat Sutivanichsak, who prefers to be called ‘Dew’, that he never dreamt of travelling the world when he was younger. And yet, in the last four years or so, he has seen more of the world than most people ever get the chance to in their lifetime.

He does vaguely remember dreaming about finding himself in the spotlight, albeit never figuring out the what, where, why or how. “In real life, I never imagined myself being in front of a camera,” he says. “It was a matter of doing what felt right at the time.” That ability to harness the moment has taken him far, from landing major acting roles to gaining international recognition and carving a name for himself in both the fashion and film arenas beyond Thailand.

Call it quiet intuition. It certainly seems to have shaped the course of his life — unplanned but firmly aligned with destiny. There is a perceivable lightness in how he speaks about his path, never weighed down by the pressure of ambition, but instead buoyed by curiosity and instinct.

“You know what’s funny? I actually dreamt about a rabbit last night,” Dew shares as he prepares to put on a Bottega Veneta leather T-shirt bearing the motif of a bunny. “I never had a pet rabbit before, so maybe this is a sign. It was so cute, and it had soft, white fur with little black spots here and there,” he adds. “When I was young, I wanted to be a superhero with the power to fly. I never thought I would be an actor (laughs), but that is just how life works, I guess.”

These passing, almost whimsical moments — like a dream about a rabbit or a childhood fantasy to fly — capture something essential about Dew. At the end of the day, he is that fresh young talent waiting to show the world what he’s got. There is no doubt Dew is someone who floats between worlds: imagination and reality, past and present, groundedness and freedom.

Something about being an actor in atypical circumstances, where he was thrust into the spotlight without preparation, appears to have hit the switch for Dew. Today, he continues to shine as one of Thailand’s most versatile and sought-after talents. And if that is not the very essence of a dream realised, what else could be?
