Cartier presents the Into The Wild Experience exhibition to celebrate the creations of the La Panthère universe.

La Panthère has been a creative signature for Cartier since the first sighting of her distinctive markings on a watch in 1914. What began as an abstract ode turned into something figurative three years later, when the animal was depicted, flanked by cypress trees, on a case gifted by Louis Cartier to Jeanne Toussaint.

It all started when artist George Barbier was commissioned to design an invitation to a Parisian jewellery exhibition with the illustration of the cats. The enigmatic painting, Dame à la panthère, depicts an elegantly dressed woman with none other than a panther at her feet. This moment in Cartier’s history marks the first use of an animal at the company and is what led to bthe irth of the iconic, transversal panther-themed collection.

Now expressed with design, gem mounting, paving, setting, expanding its repertoire of design and wear to include bags, jewellery, and accessories to fragrances and home accessories, the wild feline has proven to be more protean than meets the eye, a permanent yet evolving mark of significance on the high jewellery house.
