Frankly, the Men’s Folio Grooming Awards 2022 has not changed much since its inauguration in 2020. Its metrics are still yardsticks that have not shrunk in length — does a product feel and work as they claim to do besides looking good on the table? If we are to play spot the difference, then there are smarter upgrades to the daily staples we use such as serums for the eyes, a greater focus on makeup removal, hydration, and many new solutions to scent oneself.
There are, of course, even more choices this year — roughly 528 nominations were made across 80 brands. We narrowed it down to 286 products from 68 brands, of which were tested by this panel of eight — Managing Editor Asaph Low, Deputy Editor Bryan Goh, Makeup Artists Eric Tan, Larry Yeo, Priscelia Wong, Sha Shamsi, and grooming enthusiasts Smita de Souza and Aiman Haikal — resulting in 68 winners (click here for part one , two, or three) that were deeply vetted, tested, and of course, loved.

BEST SUNSCREEN FOR ACNE-PRONE SKIN – Avène Clearance Sunscreen SPF 50+
With broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection and a formula that feels great on acne-prone skin, Asaph says too that the formula’s water resistance “is great for any kind of outdoor activities”

“Moisturising but without the typical oily finish” says Eric about this multitasker that even protects the skin against dryness, pollution, and air particles that can cause stress.

A “makeup artist’s favourite for clients and even for usage themselves”, Sha thinks too that its oil-free formula can “work beautifully too on people with dry, oily or sensitive skin.”

A fan of the sunscreen himself, Larry notes that its texture “is nice and watery that spreads easily” and also, that it is “slightly tinted for you to notice where you have missed application.”

Not only does this cream soften the look of lines with immediacy, but Larry also loves that “the formulation and texture glide on beautifully onto the skin.”
BEST ANTI-AGEING EYE SERUM – Talika Eye Quintessence
Both soothing and moisturising without any hint of stickiness, Eric even recommends it as a primer as “crease lines lessen which allows for smoother application of concealer.”
BEST EYE MASK – Elemis Pro-Collagen Eye Revive Mask
“Quite the multitasking eye mask”, Smita also uses it as an “overnight eye mask if she’s sleeping in air conditioning or just a smidge to help concealer go on beautifully.”

“The best thing is that it’s a non-drying gel-cream type clay mask that purifies the pores and exfoliates at the same time,” says Asaph about this pore-tightening product.
