Healthy-looking hair has always been desirable, but the brightest manifestation in the present is a megawatt sheen achievable with any style.
Historically, hairstyles have always been categorised according to cadence, culture and community. Glass hair was one of them, albeit with a few over-directed instructions, “the look is sleek cut and straight”; “go for a quality blowout or do it at home yourself with a flat iron” and the worst, “achieve it in six easy steps.”
However, hairstylist Keith (@keithstyling) thinks that copping a shine should not be complicated at all. One has to first consider the type of hair he has and, next, make sure he treats it with the right products to retain as much moisture as possible. “For curly hair, make sure to use a shampoo that is not drying and use a natural conditioner like coconut oil. You can use shampoos containing micellar water that cleanses without drying out oily hair. Men with wavy and straight hair can also use Olaplex Nº.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner.”

Keith also recommends using a water-based serum to prep one’s hair for styling. “It works best on wavy and straight hair, but if your hair is curly, argan oil works the best. You should also be using an anti-frizz hairspray after and if need be, a volume foam for some lift.”

As for a hairstylist’s trick to keeping things sleek on the go, OUAI’s anti-frizz hair sheets are his favourite — one swipe immediately flattens things out while retaining shine.
