Le Bucket 37 Is in Line to Become Saint Laurent’s Next Hit

  • By Sadiq Shah

Saint Laurent’s latest bag, the Le Bucket 37, looks to inject the brand’s signature sophistication to the classic bucket silhouette.

Anthony Vaccarello has been on an upwards trajectory. Since his start at the helm of Saint Laurent eight years ago, the house has garnered attention critically and commercially. He has hit his stride with a sleuth of collections that balances the houses’ codes with his provocative sensibilities. Leaning into the brands’ Parisian allure, this has resulted in an exponential growth in profit, where it reached an all-time high, totalling around $3 billion last year.

With each season, the brand manages to create a stream of hit products that the internet seems to swoon over. This season, he takes on a classic Parisian bag design, meet Le Bucket 37.

While the bucket bag was originally designed in Paris with the purpose of carrying bottles of champagne, it has now evolved into a contemporary solution for whoever has plenty to hold. Thanks to its circular base and tubular shape, many brands have reiterated the popular silhouette by altering the closures and materials. This practice peaked in the mid-2010s when a bucket bag style in stiffer and sleeker leather got the attention of the masses.

With trends cycling along faster and faster because of social media, Saint Laurent takes this opportunity to lead the resurgence of the bucket bag with something much more malleable in style and material.

Tweaking the circular frame of the bag to a semi-rigid construction, the Le Bucket 37 features the iconic Saint Laurent clasp closure — the Cassandre, that uses the tail end of the logo as a means to close the bag. Made from black calfskin, the bag also features two strap options: one long adjustable strap that is detachable and another shorter strap that allows it to be carried as a top handle. Additionally, a zippered fly inner pocket and gold foil stamp of the brand logo complete the black suede interior of the bag.

It seems like there are no signs of stopping for Anthony Vaccarello. The release of Le Bucket 37 signals his resolution to continue with his streak of hit accessories — aiming to outdo his already impressive achievements.
