MFMF84: Deputy Editor Bryan Goh's "New Ways" Playlist
You might not know this but because we’re a team of childish boys, we used to have a competition every month where I’d report whose #MFMF Playlist garnered the most views. Art Director Izwan’s Dalgona Coffee playlist ranks #1 (how bored are you people?) while Editor-in-Chief Wilson’s Bath Time Playlist comes a close second (…horny…hour?).

Hence, in the name of investigative journalism, I’ve trawled through several of their playlists, gave several songs a listen and am now reporting my thoughts and views on my new New Ways Playlist.

A$AP Rocky — Angels

I’m not really surprised that Watch & Features Editor Asaph is a fan of A$AP Rocky. What I’m surprised though is how much of a banger this song is. His flow is pretty dope and even seven years later, this is still a banger. TEN GOLD CHAINS, WOOD GRAIN, PROPANE, SELL THE WHOLE THING WHEN THE CELL PHONE RANG. A$AP IS THE TRUE GOAT.

BLACKPINK — AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST

The only time I use BLACKPINK in my vernacular where I yell “Black Pork In Your Area” and assume that I’m hilarious. But our fashion stylist Manfred is obviously on to something: this track worms its way into your ears and vomits a sugary load into it. It makes me miss partying in Seoul and being on my worst behaviour.

Lescop – La forêt

Art director Izwan and I probably have the most similar taste in music because 1) our lives have been ruined by our love for Skins and 2) we used to party at Poptart when it was still cool. We also both agree that any song in French sounds infinitely better; especially when the lyrics are full of existential angst.

Masked Wolf — Astronaut in the Ocean

I had to trawl quite a bit through editor-in-chief Wilson’s playlist before I found something that I thought was personally aurally pleasing. This one fits the bill: it makes me feel like I’m literally floating in space. I can’t wait to semi-drown myself in my bathtub tonight while listening to this.
