The Case of the Lightweight Watch

  • By Bryan Goh

We honestly can’t think of more than five people who wear a watch to tell time given that they’ve now entered the stratosphere as fashion accessories. If you do hanker for one to urh, tell time the old school way, here are some that don’t scream Soundcloud rapper or CBD office drone — they’re light on the wrist (you might even forget you’re wearing them) but pack a powerful punch visual wise.

This timepiece makes a heavy statement with its skeleton face and woven black rubber strap without weighing your wrist down — its timer disk is manufactured using lightweight aluminum

Omega Planet Ocean 600m Co-Axial Master Chronometer 43.5mm

The Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Master Chronometer bezel is crafted with Liquidmetal™ that is three times as hard as stainless steel but infinitely much lighter.

Panerai Submersible Carbotech 42mm PAM 960

A material originally used in automobile brakes, Panerai’s latest timepiece is made of thin sheets of carbon fibre that makes it tougher than titanium without the heavy hangup of the material.

Richard Mille 27-03 Manual Winding Tourbillon Rafael Nadal

Tennis whiz Rafael Nadal’s serves are light but powerful and so is Richard Mille’s timepiece that’s dedicated to him  — the RM 27-03’s intense burst of colour is achieved by injecting fine layers of silica into tinted resin while the case is made of grade 5 scratch-proof titanium.

Zenith Defy Black Classic

The numerical values of the Defy Black Classic is 41 for its diameter, ten for its water-resistance depth and under 50 for its weight.
