With a taste for ornamentation and brazen, body-flaunting fits, Versace has never been a stickler for convention – now, at a time when some are choosing to scale back on operations in Hong Kong, Versace has bucked the trend by opening a new flagship in Central.
The duplex, store-front boutique occupies an area of 684 square meters, and blends traditional Italian architectural values (always a design pillar of Versace, after all) with the energetic Donatella Versace creations of today. Featuring an impressive façade in backlit onyx, Fior di Bosco marble flooring and plenty of brass accents, the new flagship presents the prêt-à-porter and accessories collections for both men and women, and Versace Home.
“I adore the design concept of our new Hong Kong Versace boutique, which pays tribute to Italy’s cultural heritage. We have created a space in which the spirit of Versace can take flight. For me, this boutique suggests an uninterrupted dialogue between our past and future,” says Donatella Versace, who attended the store’s recent grand opening with CEO Jonathan Akeroyd, as well as celebrities including Taiwanese actor Chang Chen and Hong Kong actress and model Jennifer Tse.
In celebration of the flagship’s unveiling, Versace designed a limited edition, Swarovski crystal-studded version of its mini Palazzo Empire bag. Every piece features a metallic tag engraved with “The Palazzo Empire celebrating Hong Kong”.
