Louis Vuitton creates an officially licensed leather goods capsule collection for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
For the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East, or Qatar to be specific, Louis Vuitton comes together with FIFA again in this year’s highly unconventional, winter edition to produce a second officially licensed leather goods collection, classic bags made sophisticated and given tongue-in-cheek sporty treatments to capture the excitement of football in an elegant way.
The Maison and FIFA have nurtured an ongoing relationship since in 2010, when Louis Vuitton provided the travel trunk for the FIFA World Cup Trophy — one of today’s most sought-after, legendary trophies. Since then, Louis Vuitton has made two leather goods collections for the globally anticipated sporting tournament — the first in 2018, and the second this year, featuring five collectible pieces in black Taurillon leather.
Channelling the game’s excitable buzz, this new leather goods collection revisits one of the Maison’s most emblematic signatures, the Damier motif, now embossed to remind of the movement of a net when a goal is scored.
In the collection, timeless travel carriers like the Keepall 50, City Keepall bags and the Discovery backpack, flaunt spacious central compartments and numerous inner pockets, the perfect template for a well-organised bag accompanied by adjustable straps, accented with black metallic hardware. The bags are embellished with more Easter-egg odes to the sport, with leather tags shaped like a soccer league badge, while the Keepall 50 features five protective bottom studs that look just like football cleats.
For smaller-sized leather goods, the collection adds a dopp kit with contrasting piping and an adjustable leather handle, as well as a five-pocket organiser with an outer pocket, contrasting edges and a LV logo.
