For the month of December and January 2021, you might notice that we have changed the way we are presenting things on our site. While we could have taken the easy way out and presented generic festive stories with generic festive ideas — top 10 shoes to party in, the best log cakes that are available for delivery and festive hampers to gift friends and family — at Men’s Folio, we believe in ideas that are as functional as they are frivolous, as smart as they are easy to wing and as enriching to you as they will be to the people around you. In short, we want to be as useful as possible because #aintnobodygottime.
Hence, we’ll be presenting 60 very useful ideas for the festive season and into the 365 days to come for the next 60 days. Here is idea 37: harnessing precision with quartz crystals.

Gucci Grip
Inspired by the skateboarding community and skateboard grip tape, the Gucci Grip kickflips the conventional quartz mechanism to a different level of fun. Rotating discs take the place of regular watch hands — the outermost representing the hours followed by the minutes. They are coloured fluorescent blue to matchthe GG symbols sprawled across the case and bracelet. A thin Ronda quartz movement lends the watch both accuracy and slimness when worn on the wrist.

Swatch 1983
The enfant terrible of Swiss watchmaking is breaking new frontiers with its newest line of quartz watches — the 1983 collection. Named after Swatch’s founding year, it is also dubbed the BioReloaded for the use of bio-sourced materials. A new type of plastic —developed from castor plant seeds — meets the “Swiss Made” designation and replaces industrial ones. Even the packaging is made from biodegradable, home-compostable starches and natural fibres for the eco-conscious crowd.
