The Saint Laurent Spring Summer 2022 Accessories Are Disintegrations Of the Past

  • By Weilun Tok

As a new decade dawned and the 1980s began, the new romantics showcased alternative futurism and modernism with distinctive clothing, theatrical hair and makeup; a movement that was part of a broader reimagining of conventional ideas about gender and identity. For his Spring/Summer ’22 menswear collection, artistic director Anthony Vaccarello presents his billet-doux to this fanatical era in culture.

The result? Neo-chaos as declarations for menswear’s future so irreverently contemporary that it rendered everything we saw previously irrelevant. Its inescapable accompaniment signals the same revolts, as requisite accessories complete the final looks of menswear’s latest transfiguration.
