Onitsuka Tiger’s new dress shoe line debuts in Singapore at its first Southeast Asian boutique at ION Orchard.
Mention Onitsuka Tiger and the stripes that brand a timeless and versatile array of everyday shoes comes to mind. But instead of adding onto that, the Japanese brand taps into heritage Japanese craftsmanship to elevate its footwear fare with THE ONITSUKA, a new signature line of hand-crafted dress shoes.
Comprised of one-of-a-kind hybrid designs that borrow design elements of dress shoes and sneakers, much of the collection is constructed from Japanese leathers like the domestic variety from Kobe cattle. These are then treated with traditional techniques by Japanese craftsmen in the town of Himeji, which is recognised for its quality leather production, and then transformed into shoes that prize comfort, the classic ‘red line’ and ‘shark-toothed sole’ meticulously engineered to serve both form and function.
A newly developed foam used in the outsole of THE ONITSUKA shoes also adds lightness and durability. Coupled with an insole that is made from various high-spec materials in varying firmness, these dress shoes have excellent cushioning, arch support and shock absorbency — perfect to pair with the curated assortment of premium accessories, ready-to-wear and also Onitsuka Tiger’s premium line of Nippon Made sneakers found at the first Southeast Asian boutique.
Found on the first floor of ION Orchard, THE ONITSUKA boutique’s interior echoes the enduring style of the collection with bold strokes of black, white and red, the sensorial nature of THE ONITSUKA’s shoes expressed in the luxuries of plush sofas and the elegant terrazzo floor.
