The blogosphere and Twitterverse is rife with buzz about what started out as a virgin post on a newly-minted Instagram account. Yes, we’re talking about the Alexander Wang X H&M collaboration. New York’s It Boy of fashion announced the partnership with the Swedish fashion retailer on Saturday via an NBA-inspired video posted on the very recently created official Alexander Wang Instagram account. The final 11:06 tally on the ‘scoreboard’ appears to hint at a November release for the collection.
Both Alexander Wang and H&M have since publicly confirmed the collaboration, making the New York label the latest in H&M’s portfolio of alliances that have seen the likes of Versace, Lanvin, Martin Margiela and Marni bring their luxe looks to high street fashion stores worldwide. Having not too long ago made fashion headlines with his appointment at Balenciaga, Wang is once again set to hog the limelight in the lead up to November. And judging from the whopping 139k followers @alexanderwangny managed to garner in such a short time, the collection is set to be a commercial success.
