With temperatures of temperate countries finally reaching single digits, puffer jackets and coats are back out to re-enter the fashion playing field. But for those heading overseas for trekking or hiking adventures, we are talking about the return of windbreakers, parkas and insulated pieces that all come with a technical slant.
While most fashion houses do offer these jacket types, it is often for the items to be made for the actual extremities of the environment. It is only in recent years, with the increase of brand collaborations, that the conversation between traditionally technical outdoor apparel brands and luxury houses has been stimulated. This has undoubtedly also encouraged those with the capacity to fine-tune their own craft for the same purpose to do the same, and one such brand is Zegna, as seen in the Zegna Outerwear campaign that Henry Lau so handsomely fronts.
Elevating mountainside living with the design ethos and virtues of the nature-born brand, the Zegna Outdoor collection is crafted from a host of innovative and technical textiles that are imbued with practical details that promise ease and functionality for the modern explorer. The full wardrobe of outerwear, knitwear, jersey underpinnings, technical sweaters and trousers are all-black, save for splashes of Zegna’s famous Vicuña tone and the addition of the double-stripe logo that adds character and style to the designs.
Henry Lau, the Canadian singer, producer and actor, wears not only the apparel but also the TX Top GTX Boots in collaboration with La Sportiva, and Kask’s matte ski helmet. This look would easily bring him from the streets of Seoul to that of any snow-capped mountains on the periphery of the metropolis — keeping him warm and free to play regardless of anything the earthly elements have to say.
