Tiffany Titan by Pharrell Williams Ups The Ante (In A Good Way)

  • By Charmaine Tan

Tiffany & Co.’s latest collaboration with Pharrell reimagines Tiffany’s interlocking chain as an ode to the sea and Poseidon’s titanic presence.

This is not the first time the jewelry house has tapped on Pharrell’s creative powers to increase their culture cred. But it’s definitely an ingenious thing they have going on, and after his first outing with them via his signature diamond sunglasses, the Tiffany Titan by Pharrell Williams collection — while no surprise — only further solidifies what this collaboration is doing to the fast developing world of fashion jewelry.

What is immediately noticeable about the Tiffany Titan pieces are its sharp, spear-like spikes that reappear on an array of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings, all drawing inspiration from the structure of Poseidon’s trident and embodying a spunky, punk spirit. Essentialising one’s energy, power and force, the collection epitomizes what it means to have fearless individuality, the motif is juxtaposed by a unique shaped link that is curved and soft against the sharpness of the spear.

Offered in 18k yellow gold or titanium with all metal and diamond iterations, each piece deftly portrays a dialogue between tensions, proportion and balance, fierce in look but never piercing the flesh below.

The collection also switches up traditional diamond settings, the pavé pieces featuring reverse-set diamonds that expose the diamond’s pavilion, maximizing brilliance. Titanium contrasts the subdued reflective quality of the material itself to produce an impactful statement, setting Tiffany Titan apart from traditional jewelry. With technical precision in each design that is intended to move with the wearer, the collection showcases the House’s commitment to flawless craftsmanship that is still full of edge.

On the collection, Pharrell said, “I’m very inspired by the water, and the name of this collection “Titan” draws inspiration from Poseidon, ruler of the sea, King of Atlantis — “Atlantis” which is also the name of the community I grew up in Virginia Beach. The detail in all of the jewelry pieces is very intentional, the use of black titanium…it’s a physical manifestation of beauty in blackness.”

A star-studded attendance including the likes of Rosé of Blackpink, Rosalía, KAWS, A$AP Rocky and Daniel Arsham welcomed the Tiffany Titan collection last week with cocktails at the House’s iconic Fifth Avenue flagship, The Landmark, followed by an intimate seated dinner.

Tiffany Titan by Pharrell Williams is available this May exclusively on Tiffany.com in the US and at The Landmark in New York City.
