Dior’s Milly Carnivora Collection Is in Full Bloom

  • By Charmaine Tan

Milly Carnivora — the latest expression of Dior Joaillerie — takes inspiration from Monsieur Dior’s love of gardens, blooms and the vitality of life.

Art is a reflection of and fuelled by the abundance of life, and the life that grows in the garden is a source of inspiration that Christian Dior more than just adored. From lily-of-the-valley to the Rose de Granville, nature has always played a pivotal role in invigorating the designer’s approach to colours, textures and silhouettes; he inherited a passion for gardening from his mother, and the maison is the very expression one of the core pillars that make up who the designer is as a person.

It is then no more fitting for Victoire de Castellane — creative director of Dior Joaillerie — to look towards Monsieur Dior’s darling Milly-la-Forêt garden for her execution of the Milly Carnivora line’s newest additions.

First launched in 2008, the Milly Carnivora line introduces three new aesthetics that pay tribute to the enchanting and lush herbarium. Delicately lacquered flowers that reveal rich, shimmering colours are pieced together to create a necklace, ring and earrings. Variously set with diamonds or precious stones, the three pieces bear the whimsical and delightful signature of de Castellane, while reflecting the virtuous hand of the Ateliers — the petals of dream, art and botany blossoming as one.
