This Week In Collabs: Our Legacy Activewear, Taeyang X Fragment, Needles Skate Shoes and More

  • By Vanessa Ng

From Givenchy and Undercover to Miu Miu and Church’s, shop the high-profile collaborations you might have missed.

Cross-branded collaborations are not new to streetwear. At its core, the function of collaborative creativity provides for an exploration of brand narratives, occasionally producing an iconic, not-to-be-missed drop that echoes in the minds of the streetwear community for seasons to come. After all, some of the most prolific trends and “grails”, if you will, were birthed through this creative exercise. In recent years, luxury brands have soon followed suit, bringing to life a spectrum of degreeing displays of artistry and regard for casual street style.

This week’s buzzy line-up of collaborations entails Our Legacy’s partnership with running brand Satisfy, Sacai’s collaboration with Carhartt, and the uncanny celebrity influence of Big Bang’s Taeyang and Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment. Also making an unexpected appearance on this list are sister brands Church’s and Miu Miu, coming together for a capsule of monk shoes and brogues.

Below, shop all the latest collaborations to suit any closet.

1. Our Legacy X Satisfy

Swedish label Our Legacy pairs up with run-wear brand Satisfy to bring a logo-stamped collection of windbreakers, tanks and shorts. Satisfy’s classic AuraLite 4-way stretch fabric jerseys are now available in Our Legacy’s signature palette of muted neutrals and pastels, cut in both muscle and short-sleeve tee silhouettes. For those averse to the sport, the collaboration also offers “Repossessed Marathon” tees — upcycled vintage t-shirts with co-branded reflective prints and the classic “Work Shop” lettering on its backs.

Our Legacy X Satisfy is available for purchase online and at specific Dover Street Market retailers, from 25 August.

2. Needles X DC Shoes

After teaming up with multi-brand retailers like Kith and Nubian Tokyo, Japanese brand Needles lends its iconic five-striped tracksuit silhouette and purple hues to American skate and snowboarding label DC Shoes. True to the latter’s commitment to action sports, the collaborative capsule materialises in skate shoes and decks, as well as essentials embroidered with a hybridised Needles X DC Shoes papillon.

The Needles X DC Shoes collaboration is available for purchase online and at select retailers worldwide, from 26 August.

3. Givenchy X Undercover

Before the Undercover bear, there was Bambi. Givenchy has remained a steadfast staple in street style, now especially so with Matthew M Williams at its helm. The 1017 ALYX 9SM founder and frequent Nike collaborator has tapped into the genius of Undercover’s Jun Takahashi for what stands to be a grail in the works. “Jun and his work are authentically connected to culture. Which is rare for designers and brands in this era … I am grateful and it is a honour to be welcomed to Tokyo by Undercover and Jun with this symbolic collaboration of friendship. Thank you Jun for making a generation dream.”, said the American designer in an Instagram post.

The Givenchy X Undercover release is available exclusively at Givenchy Ginza Six, from 26 August 26.

4. Hidden NY X G-Shock

For G-Shock’s 20th anniversary, the Casio label is teaming up with culture curators Hidden NY to launch a slew of G-Shock-related products. Prominently, the DW-5600 watch features a bone-white body, peppered with vibrant green accents. To pair, are a slew of c0-branded tees and hoodies.

The Hidden NY X G-Shock collaboration will be available for purchase online, from 24 August.

5. Miu Miu X Church’s

What happens when British formality meets a brand as spirited as Miu Miu? The sister Houses under the Prada Group explore that very question — arriving at the answer of logo embossed tongues on conventional silhouettes of derbies and double-strapped monk shoes.

Miu Miu X Church’s will be available in for purchase online from August 29 and in Miu Miu stores from September 6.

6. Born X Raised X NFL

Following its recent collaboration with street label Stussy, Born X Raised continues on a collaborative high. This time, the brand taps upon the athletic football association NFL in a street-forward ode to its Californian roots and the associated athletic legacy of the state. Marking the second collaboration between the two, the latest collaboration sees classic Born X Raised gothic script dressed in vintage hues of team colours, on exaggerated cuts of varsity jerseys and hoodies.

Born X Raised X NFL will be available for purchase online, from August 25.

7. Sacai X Carhartt WIP

Chitose Abe does it again. First teased earlier this January, the collaboration sees Abe weave Sacai sensibilities into classic Carhartt utilitarianism. Rugged appeals are softened with a pared-down palette, cosy knits and an autumnally appropriate dose of shearling.

The Sacai x Carhartt WIP collaboration will be available to purchase at Sacai and Carhartt, from September 8.
