Change is imminent at CHANEL. With Matthieu Blazy newly appointed as creative director and set to debut his first collection this October in Paris, speculation is swirling about the maison’s next chapter. Will we see echoes of his Bottega-era signatures or a reimagining of CHANEL’s archival icons? While these shifts will unfold gradually over the next year, transformation is already underway, even with the brand’s iconic Singapore boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

The flagship store, located in the central atrium of the mall, has officially closed its doors for an extensive renovation set to be completed in 2027. In the meantime, CHANEL has opened a temporary boutique just next door — a smaller yet equally refined space dedicated to the latest ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, costume jewellery, and eyewear collections, alongside a curated selection of watches and fine jewellery.

For a space intended to last just under two years, the boutique feels anything but temporary. Its expansive layout evokes the elegant spirit of Mademoiselle Chanel’s legendary Parisian apartment at 31 rue Cambon — reimagined through a contemporary lens. We see this in mirrors in the private salons that acts as a nod to the maison’s iconic mirrored staircase, reflecting the collections with multidimensional flair. At the entrance and within the watches & fine jewellery salon, bespoke lamps by Goossens, CHANEL’s Métiers d’art collaborator since 2005, recall the original pieces created by Robert Goossens for Gabrielle Chanel herself.

Within the space are standouts such as a lounge area that has the ability to transform into private salons via mirrored sliding doors, which offers a discreet and personalised shopping experience just as its old boutiques could. And beyond the ready-to-wear salon lies a dedicated shoe space featuring a plush beige suede sofa, which acts as a direct homage to the one in Gabrielle Chanel’s own apartment. As for the watches & fine jewellery, the new boutique presents a refined selection of creations from the iconic Coco Crush and N°5 Fine Jewellery collections to the Première, J12, and BOY·FRIEND timepieces.
CHANEL’s Temporary Boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands is open Monday to Sunday from 10:30am to 11pm.
