Bottega Veneta Shares Its First Sunrise With You for the Lunar New Year

  • By Charmaine Tan

Bottega Veneta’s Lunar New Year campaign stars brand ambassador Shu Qi and a myriad of characters overlooking Shanghai at the dawn of the Year of the Dragon.

A soft gradient of purple to orange frames another majestic spectacle for Bottega Veneta‘s fourth collaboration with director Jess Jing Zou (who was also behind the brand’s Lunar New Year campaign last year, Reunion in Motion, and two Qixi films: Love in Motion and Towards You), this time titled The First Sunrise with You — a poetic welcome of the new year’s dawn.

Shu Qi — the brand’s second brand ambassador after RM of BTS — is seen alongside a cast of characters who take the special occasion to revisit the familiar themes of travel and togetherness, all filmed in a panoramic sequence set in Shanghai. One group of friends are seen gathering on a beach, while another group rides scooters along a mountain road. A couple admires the sunrise reflecting off snow-covered mountains, while a mother-daughter duo – model Chen Estelle and her own mother – walk along the riverside by Museum of Art Pudong in Shanghai.

With its scenes of reunion and range of landscapes and cityscapes, The First Sunrise with You foregrounds not only the transition from one year to the next and the emotion of new beginnings, but also the journeys people make to spend precious moments with the places and people they hold dear.

Under the creative direction of Matthieu Blazy, photography by Ken Ngan and a bespoke track from Sega Bodega, The First Sunrise with You captures Bottega Veneta in motion, spotlighting exclusive designs for the Chinese New Year capsule collection.

In an ode to the Year of the Dragon, we see the Andiamo, Sardine and a bespoke Jodie with a special dragon-tail handle come to life, while the Orbit sneakers and its auspicious colour combinations with red seem to mirror the scales of the mythical creature, rippling with every step forward into the new year.
