Acne Studios has always had their pulse on the culture. This time, it’s no different, as the next creative on the brand’s stacked collaboration roster is the Philadelphia-based artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase. Drawing inspiration from the mundanity of everyday life, Chase carves out and outputs visual work that results in a series of enigmatic soft sculptures and abstract paintings.
Chase and Acne Studios continue to build on their creative partnership from their initial collaboration on their SS25 womenswear show, in which they were in charge of the scenography and set design. In it, Chase deployed one of their signature methods of instruction, by involving domestic objects — lamps, fans, sinks, radios and picture frames and recontextualising them into different hues, textures and materials. This time, Chase is involved in another expressive spatial transformation: a pop-up exhibition; titled ‘Heart Beat Rose’, at their Greene Street store location that carries over the same emotionally charged visual language — including several art pieces carried over from the runway to several sculptures specially made for the occasion.
This pop-up marks the intersection where Acne Studios’ design system and Chase’s unique style converge, and saw the debut of the collab collection, Acne Studios Loves Jonathan Lyndon Chase. The collection sees Chase’s work; from a rendition of the signature Acne bow motif, or illustrations of distinctive figures, inspired by Chase’s close personal relationships, printed across long and short sleeved t-shirts, homeware goods such as plush pillows and blankets, and even the brand’s classic ‘1981’ jeans. These clothes carry with them expressions of intimacy, tenderness and creative kinship. The soft colour palettes of the pieces and the material choices of the items, for example, the baby blue coloured pillow with a printed illustration that gives the illusion of denim while embracing a more softer, comfier texture, are reflections of Chase’s artistic vision, and a callback to their artistic ethos.
This limited edition collaboration is available exclusively at the Acne Studios Greene Street location and is set for a global release online and at selected stores from late June 2025.
