An antidote to the dullness of a day spent in these troubled times, The Glenlivet has released four edible cocktails in the form of capsules using their 12-Year-Old and Founder’s Reserve.
The Glenlivet — the single malt known for breaking traditions — has been listening to the whims and demands of its fans since 1822. In times gone by, it served itself to the monarchs and the royalty with King George IV demanding a bottle in 1822. Famed fictional anchorman Ron Burgundy is a big fan too, “three fingers of Glenlivet with a little bit of pepper and some cheese”.
In recent times (and a somewhat depressing one), however, the Speyside spirit distillery had released something called the Cocktail Capsule Collection: four spherical capsules containing a cocktail each. As perfunctory as this concept might sound, the proof is in the vegan-friendly and gluten-free palette. The classic Old Fashioned and Whisky Sour are made with The Glenlivet 12 Year Old, the former a perfect use of the 12 Year Old’s creamy and sweet profile and the latter, the 12 Year Old’s zesty citrus leaving a tangy aftertaste. With the mixing in of The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve for the Paloma and The Last King (a severely underrated Summer cocktail, in our opinion), the spirit’s hints of toffee, chocolate, and milk add a kick to jolt one out of a hazy summer day.
