Buckle Up Boys — these are Bars to Catch the F1 Race

  • By Bryan Goh

The twelveth instalment of the Formula Grand Prix is here, which means it’s been exactly a year since Lewis Hamilton zoomed his way to victory (Editor: who were his competitors again?). What it also means is that you have slightly over a week to find shoes that don’t tear your feet up (you should only be tearing the dance floor up), cleanse your liver out (ok maybe just don’t drink so much), and find an icy watch to flex on your fellow party-goers. The best bars to hit up though? No problem mate, we got ya — here are five of them.

Pictured Above:
Bar Rouge
Why you should pay the Grab surge: Bar Rouge sits atop Singapore’s tallest hotel — Swissôtel The Stamford — so take some time to check out the view instead of the people.
The acts you will be ‘gramming: The opening night has house DJ Andy Purnell, the second has Bangkok Invaders and the last night will have our own local DJ veterans spinning.
The strain on your wallet:
Passes for Race The Night 3-Day (inclusive of one drink per night) start from $60.

Bar Rogue is located at 2 Stamford Rd, #71-01, Singapore 178882.

1-Altitude

Why you should pay the Grab surge:
The one in 1-Altitude is a reference to its reputation as one of the world’s highest alfresco bar which means #bestviewintown. The F1 racers below are going to look like ants though but that doesn’t matter…right?
The acts you will be ‘gramming:
Dutch DJ Sandro Silva and Swedish DJ Sherpa Jorg will be giving you the electric (house) feels.
The strain on your wallet:
The entrance fee is priced at $68 from 6-9pm and $88 from 9pm onwards — the cover charge nets you a premium pour and a Grand Prix cocktail.

1-Altitude is located at 1 Raffles Place, Singapore 048616.

CÉ LA VI

Why you should pay the Grab surge:
If you want to catch the obligatory F1 fireworks, catch them from 57 stories up at CÉ LA VI. The fireworks after with a hot stranger? The ball is in your court
The acts you will be ‘gramming:
DJ Babey Drew has spun for the Kardashians, DJ Gabriele Poso spins afro-Latino beats and Ibiza-based DJs Alex Kennon and Fell Reis do boho-electro.
The strain on your wallet:
The cover charge will set you back $38 which is inclusive of a premium pour.

MO BAR

Why you should pay the Grab surge: You can catch the fireworks and the F1 race here but we’d rather you be chugging free-flow Ruinart champagne, F1 themed cocktails, beers, wines, and canapés instead.
The acts you will be ‘gramming: Sorry folks, no acts but there will be TV screens for you to catch the race. If this doesn’t appease you, here are two words — “free-flow” & “champagne”.
The strain on your wallet: The free-flow menu is priced at $250++ per person — we advise you to come with an empty stomach.

MO Bar is located at Mandarin Oriental, 5 Raffles Avenue, Level 4, Singapore 039797.

The Podium Lounge

Why you should pay the Grab surge:
The Podium Lounge party is the OG of F1 parties —  it’s crazy, star-studded and it has a performance by 1/5 member of the Spice Girls.
The acts you will be ‘gramming:
Ex-Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong is hosting and The Cuban Brothers are there to provide comedic relief. If that isn’t your groove — Daniel Jones of Savage Garden will serenade you while rising Singaporean star Maya Davidov provides poppy hits.
The strain on your wallet:
Tickets to this all-out celebration start at $188 for advance tickets and $218 at the door. If you have more than three friends, VIP tables start from $1,688.

The Podium Lounge is located at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, Grand Ballroom, Singapore 039799.
