#ObjectsOfDesire: Gucci Dive Watch

Every week, we uncover a new object of desire from the vast and magical world of brands. This week, spotlight lands on the Gucci Dive collection, which presents timepieces in four new looks that are made with bio-based materials and recycled steel.

Sustainability is no buzzword. It is a keyword that will continue to remain on our minds for a long time, for as long as is needed for the world to unlock the secrets to environmental longevity. A longevity of which, must also be looked at from a critical standpoint, for keeping time is of no use if this resource becomes ever more finite.

This is where Gucci Dive’s latest addition to the sustainability movement in the world of horology comes just in time. In conjunction with the Gucci Love Parade show presented earlier this year, the diver’s watch-inspired timepiece is made automatic and dressed in four new attires of plant-derived plastic and recycled steel, furthering the Italian house’s commitment to reducing its ecological footprint and generating a more positive change to the people and the planet.

Featuring a 40mm case and strap in an innovative rubbery bio-based plastic (with a half-half percentage shared between the case and the strap), the new Gucci Dive watch uses a Swiss-made automatic movement that is visible through a transparent caseback and a dial made of sapphire glass that has anti-reflective coating.

Available in a nature-inspired colour palette of transparent, matte white, aquamarine and natural moss green, these unisex outfits are irresistibly adorned with Gucci’s icons (think stars, the bee, the Interlocking G) for indexes, making these wrist candies a joy to look at and wear.

Resistant to up to 200 meters of water, these true-to-name aquatic gems also make for an interesting and versatile travel companion. If the dark and brooding fall colours are stripping the energy away from you, best believe these timepieces will help keep spirits high, whether you leave the sunny island for colder regions or not.
