Frankly, the Men’s Folio Grooming Awards 2022 has not changed much since its inauguration in 2020. Its metrics are still yardsticks that have not shrunk in length — does a product feel and work as they claim to do besides looking good on the table? If we are to play spot the difference, then there are smarter upgrades to the daily staples we use such as serums for the eyes, a greater focus on makeup removal, hydration, and many new solutions to scent oneself.
There are, of course, even more choices this year — roughly 528 nominations were made across 80 brands. We narrowed it down to 286 products from 68 brands, of which were tested by this panel of eight — Managing Editor Asaph Low, Deputy Editor Bryan Goh, Makeup Artists Eric Tan, Larry Yeo, Priscelia Wong, Sha Shamsi, and grooming enthusiasts Smita de Souza and Aiman Haikal — resulting in 68 winners (click here for part one , two, three, four, five, and six here) that were deeply vetted, tested, and of course, loved.
Here, the best makeup to conclude this year’s grooming awards.

“It offers a proper medium coverage concealing my blemishes, blends well, and gives the skin a subtle glow,” says Smita. “The tube packaging is also easy and light to carry around.”
BEST OIL CONTROL LIQUID FOUNDATION – Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer with SPF
A holy grail of Sha as it has been “my go-to for all these years if I need to use it on set on models or celebrities”: all 14 shades applicable to her clients.
BEST OIL CONTROL CUSHION FOUNDATION — YSL Beauty Le Cushion Ecre De Peau
The “luminous but non-oily finish and buildable coverage” is very much appreciated by Eric and so is its “classic packaging” with the iconic logo on its cover.
BEST EYEBROW PENCIL — Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Long-Wear Brow Pencil
The pencil’s dry-touch formula means that Eric’s clients do not experience “fading even with oily skin” and its slanted and chiseled tip does not “break easily” too.
BEST HYDRATING PRIMER — By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Primer
“A disclaimer: it’s best used on super dry skin and is perfect for people who are always working in an indoor office or have the aircon turned on all the time,” says Sha.
BEST MATTIFYING PRIMER — Gucci Beauty Sérum De Beauté Fluide Matifiant Primer
A universally clear shade and vintage floral scent is much appreciated by Priscelia who claims that compared to other stunners, “Gucci wins thanks to its finish and scent pose-use”.
BEST LIP BALM — Salt & Stone SPF 30 Lip Balm
Bryan appreciates that the all-mineral lip balm comes with a high SPF for sun protection and of course, that it is not saturated in scent or flavouring.
