The Micro Magic Of Mizu Aesthetic Clinic's Sylfirm X Treatment
Sort of a medical miracle, the Sylfirm X treatment available at Mizu Aesthetic Clinic treats everything — from acne scarring to fine lines and even difficult pigmentation.

If we had the luxury of keeping things simple, we would straightforwardly call Sylfirm X a medical miracle. Get one’s face cleansed and analysed, have it numbed before the procedure is administered and finally, calm it down with cold gel and light therapy or a face mask. One gets to achieve clearer skin with diminished pigmentation, fine lines, and scarring clocks in at an hour or an hour and a half (the numbing takes 40 minutes).

However, according to Doctor YZ Tan — the Medical Director of Mizu Aesthetic Clinic — Sylfirm X is more than just a generic aesthetic treatment one can check off a brochure. Firstly, it is the world’s first dual wave RF micro-needling treatment that is FDA-approved.Secondly, it works better than other micro-needling treatments because it does two things more precisely: targeting deeper down one’s skin with four modes of pulsed and continuous waves.

When the Sylfirm X handpick is placed on one’s skin, a shot is administered with ultra-fine needles (they can target a depth of 0.3mm to 4mm and in context, 2mm to 2.5mm is where deep hypertrophic acne scars lie) and creates precise thermal coagulation zones thattreat all layers of the skin to the epidermis.

The precise thermal coagulation zones (basically, heat from the RF energy generated), as we mentioned, are stimulated in two forms: four modes of pulsed and continuous waves each.“Pulsed wave modes target fibroblasts to strengthen the basal layer of the skin and inhibit melanocyte hyperactivity. This wave is also used to target abnormal blood vessels to reduce redness and vascular conditions like rosacea, as well as pigmentation issues such as melasma.”

“Continuous-wave modes target dermal layers of the skin to increase the collagen and elastin fibre, reducing the appearance of acne scarring, fine lines, and wrinkles and rejuvenating the skin,” say sDoctor Tan.“The results experienced from the first treatment depend on what we are treating the patient for as well as his or her skin type. Certain skin types benefit more from Sylfirm X than others. Some of the most obvious results we have seen from patients post-treatment —tightening of pores accompanied by softer and more radiant skin. We typically recommend about three sessions for patients to achieve the best results. For harder to treat conditions like acne scarring, however, it would probably take on average five to six sessions or more.”

“For wrinkles and fine lines, you can see an improvement with just one or two sessions. For under-eye lines, it might take three to four sessions, with best results achieved in combination with Rejuran I.”What are the stipulations then with Sylfirm X? Frankly, not much. One just can not apply makeup for 24 hours after with dudes of drier dispositions advised to moisturise diligently. The avoidance of skincare with acids or active ingredients (yes, Vitamin C is considered one too) is recommended for up to a week.

“While Sylfirm X is versatile and works for many, a patient’s suitability also depends on the condition that we are treating and its severity. For instance, for patients with saggier skin or deeper wrinkles, we may instead recommend a more targeted approach using either HIFU or Sofwave to achieve the lifting or tightening effect that they desire. Other instances where we will not recommend SylfirmX would be for patients with eczema skin or patients with extensive inflammatory acne.”

“I may also dissuade some patients from doing the Sylfirm X based on their skin type. From experience, patients with thicker and oilier skin types might not benefit as much from the Sylfirm X treatment for pore minimising, for instance, as the thickened skin creates a barrier for efficient energy transfer from the microneedles. Patients like these would benefit more from procedures such as a fractional eCO2 laser.”

What about rosacea, the common disorder that disrupts one’s facial skin? Doctor Tan highly recommends booking a consultation with him instead. After all, the condition cannot be treated completely and can only be reduced or controlled.
