The Debatable Hygiene Level Of Tub Skincare

The Debatable Hygiene Level Of Tub Skincare
Here, we debate the hygiene level of tub skincare and as it turns out, there really is nothing much to worry about.

The thing about tubs that transport creams are that it suggests both dearness and dirtiness. The former, with how its weightiness telegraphs expensiveness (the Alpha-H Melting Moment Cleansing Balm pictured above feels good in one’s hands and even better once it removes the heaviest of makeup), one might assume that the product in his hands is as efficacious as it is expensive. The latter, with many apologies, suggests that the product is sullied the moment its seal is torn off.

However, there is some rightness to assume the latter. After all, the act of opening the lid of a tub immediately dirties the contents within with exposure to the air (notice, how we are omitting the mention of dirty digits as that is a no-no) but as for the conspiracy theory: one that suggests ingredients within witness a decrease in potency is all but a conspiracy theory.

Any brand worth their salt and seriousness would be motivated to create a tub-contained skincare product with enough preservatives to halt bacterial growth (Dip, apply, reapply, and let the wonderfully comforting effects of the Fresh Floral Recovery Calming Mask do its job). This process is called stability testing, a sometimes lengthy one where scientists ensure that the skincare formula can “hold up” in its tub alongside forecasting how its consumer will use it. For example, the formula’s pH level is adjusted to make it inhospitable to bacterial growth no matter how long one leaves it open.

As for the period of its potency, the formula’s active ingredients are most likely encapsulated which is a process where the active ingredient — ranging from retinol to vitamins — is coated within a “shell” that offers it protection against the whims and will of its user. Or, one can simply just use the applicator that comes with the Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Cream if he is squeamish.

What else should convince one to start or continue using products in tubs? These pictured here have “thicker walls” (the Farmacy Clearly Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm is made to withstand drops and bumps) which halts oxidation due to light and most importantly, can only come in these containers. After all, how else is one expecting their favourite brand to squeeze these beautiful formulas into pumps or tubes?
