There Has Never Been a Better Time to Eat Out With These New Restaurants and Menus
There has never been a better time to eat out…. on plates that is. Jokes aside, despite the two-person rule, practically any new restaurants or menus are exciting us right now. The thought of having properly plated food served to us or having someone pour us a cocktail sends shivers down our socially-deprived spines. Heck, even just sitting in a restaurant to people watch has become some kind of new sport in its own right.

However, these new restaurants and menus here don’t really have anything to do with what excited us in the past — a fancy-schmany interior or over-the-top plating. It’s all about great food that isn’t hard to pronounce or in some extreme cases, digest. In classic #Men’sFolio fashion, we’ve broken each of them down into digestible (sorry, couldn’t help it) portions. This is what you’re going to be eating, drinking and loving in July 2021. Enjoy.

Pictured Above: The Butcher’s Wife.

The natural wine bar and restaurant now has all day dining with the best of Brazil’s flavours.

The Specials:
Moqueca (S$37++),— a seafood stew is served with a toasted banana oats farofa, delicious down to the last sip. For the vegetarians, there’s a Roots Salad (S$15++), with greens harvested from an organic farm in Genting.
The Sweets: A classic Brazilian coffee break snack called Tapioca and Coconut fudge (the ice cream is house-made, S$15++) or Ice Cream “Magnums” (S$12++) that tastes of miso with buckwheat or chocolate.

The restaurant has 57 alcohol options which means you can literally try one per week over the course of 57 weeks.

Butcher Boy.
The Concept: One of the new menus that’s got us checking our bank balance, focuses on local produce as well as sustainable sources. Basically, it feels even better to eat at Butcher Boy.
The Timings: All-day dining to your fancy.
The Specials: The Peranakan Pie Tee (S$12++ for two pieces) is served up here with marinated ikura and wasabi cream cheese mayo while the classic Chinese potstickers (S$20++), are now filled with karana jackfruit and mushroom. Butcher Boy’s new menu is pretty big on vegetarian options.
The Drinks: Haw Yeah! (S$22++) is a Ramos Gin Fizz that infuses the spirit with basil and Holy Smokes (S$24++) twists up the taste of an Old Fashioned with coffee-infused malt whisky.
The Address: 31 Keong Saik Road, Singapore 089139.

There Has Never Been a Better Time to Eat Out With These New Restaurants and Menus Casa Restaurant
Casa Restaurant
The Concept: One of the new restaurants on the block (specifically: Victoria Street) serves up Spanish fare the homely way — over a woodfire. Case Restaurant even does four-, six- or eight-course menus for lunch and dinner.
The Timings: Casa Restaurant opens on Wednesday to Saturday in two shifts, 12p.m. to 2p.m. and 6p.m. to 10:30p.m. On Sundays, it opens from 12p.m. to 3p.m. and 6p.m. to 10:30p.m.
The Specials: Everything at Casa Restaurant revolves around seafood and vegetables. However, owner Remy Lefebvre also ages the fish and dry-ages beef to intensify its flavour and texture. For the lunch and dinner discovery menu, one can pick four (S$118++), six (S$198++) or eight (S$258++) courses from a selection of 16. Weekends are where a multi-course brunch with champagne is served.
The Drinks: A wine arrangement — four (S$198++) or eight selections (S$258++) — is available and so is a mix arrangement, a medley of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
The Address: 30 Victoria Street, #01-20, Singapore 187996.

CATFISH
The Concept: Playful like its moniker, one of the new menus in this list is called the Sunday Seafood Shack Brunch — so finger-licking good you’ll want to put your phone down to focus on eating it.
The Timings: It’s only available on Sundays from 12 to 2 p.m.
The Specials: The classics like tacos (panko crumb fish with spicy pimento mayo and pickled red cabbage — S$12++) and fish burgers (everything dipped in buttermilk is instantly more delicious — S$22++) are available but the highlight would have to be the Catfish Lobster Roll (S$28++), sweet fresh Boston lobster tossed in lemon and dill.
The Drinks: Cocktails like Passionfruit Smash (vodka, passionfruit, ginger beer and citrus — S$18++) and Pinky Paloma (tequila, grapefruit, lime and citrus — S$18++) are easy to smash but the bottomless package (S$78++) is where it’s at. Two wonderful hours of freeflow prosecco, house white & red and Suntory beers.
The Address: 5 Gemmill Lane, #01-01, Singapore 069261.

There Has Never Been a Better Time to Eat Out With These New Restaurants and Menus NAE:UM
NAE:UM
The Concept:
NAEUM is Hangeul for scent and specifically, the kind associated with flowers, the sea and seasons. But nothing flowery or poetically pretentious here at this restaurant, just elevated Korean cuisine by Chef Louis that’s pleasingly familiar to one’s taste buds. It helps too that the portions are perfect, especially if you’re going to steam roll through the five-course one.
The Timings:
NAE:UM opens from Tuesday to Saturday, 6p.m. to 10:30p.m. Lunch will be introduced in the future.
The Specials: Only a five-course dinner (S$148++) will be served and the dishes range from “Mulhwae” — a popular Korean summer dish that is a cold spicy raw fish soup and “Duck” which uses the familiar mother sauce Gochujang that is a marinade for a dry-aged Challans buck.
The Drinks: Full or half alcohol pairings are available from a list of old or new world wines, as well as Japanese sakes.
The Address: 161 Telok Ayer Street, Singapore 068615.

ONDA by Park Bench Deli
The Concept: Technically, ONDA by Park Bench Deli isn’t one of the new restaurants in this list. Consider it a pop-up of sorts, a focus on the food culture behind some of Park Bench Deli’s most famous sandwiches. In this case at ONDA by Park Bench Deli, it’s the Cubano.
The Timings: ONDA by Park Bench Deli is set to launch on 8 July 2021 so make sure you give them a follow on the ‘gram at @OndabyPBD.
The Specials: The iconic Park Bench Deli Cubano is back — sweet ham, lechon, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard on a soft roll. If you can finish it in one seating, you’re a true G.
The Drinks: Five different cocktails from a spirited Cuba Libre, a refreshing Canchanchara to a classic Gin & Tonic.
The Address: 21 Lorong Telok, Singapore 049033.
