The Grooming Editor Approved Products of June 2021 Foreo Luna 3 men
What happens when you sit a horde of beauty and grooming editors together? Firstly, we have the inhuman physical capacity to drink a lot. Secondly, we can gush all night about beauty or grooming editor-approved products; the kind of products that we’ve received and really love. In more extreme cases, they are the kind on our list of products we don’t mind being marooned on an island with.

While every week brings about different drops (kind of like cryptocurrency), here are seven of the month’s which I feel are as relevant to what a man needs today as they are practical in packaging and price.

Pictured Above: The FOREO LUNATM 3 Men — like any of its siblings — is the holy grail of handy little devices that are able to really make a difference in how your skin looks. The third generation of the Luna however, is specifically designed for a man’s needs. In just under a minute, it cleans dirt, oil and dead skin cells from the surface and pores of one’s skin, especially helpful since we tend to get small clogged pores around our nostrils and around the cheeks. It also removes light makeup like powders or tinted moisturisers which essentially, saves you time from double cleansing.

While it also softens the beard (what’s it like owning a great one?), what also makes it an “imba” electronic is its ability to massage one’s face (just put on a serum) to flush away water retention.

The Grooming Editor Approved Products of June 2021 Chanel Ultra le teint cushion
Chanel’s new Ultra Le Teint Longwear Touch Foundation is longwearing and we’re not exaggerating. Each swipe of this cushion gives you around eight to ten hours of wear (sans powder but if you do layer on one, it might last longer) that will last in the current heat and humidity. However, despite it being water resistant — unless you sweat really profusely — it still transfers if you hold your phone too tightly to your cheek.

However, this cushion really shines for daily wear (especially so when it’s one of the only makeup grooming products of this June 2021 story). It blurs the appearance of pores and covers small to medium imperfections without any cakiness or heaviness on the skin.

The Grooming Editor Approved Products of June 2021 diptyque eau rihla
One of the most exciting grooming products of June 2021 is obviously Diptyque. In fact, I can’t think of any grooming editor that is not excited to receive a package from them. However, Eau Rihla takes the cake for being one of the more interesting fragrances the French House has churned out in a while. It smells like raspberry cream (ala crème de framboise) that has a masculine note of dark leather and warm musk.

It’s hard to do justice to this fragrance with just words but we can say that it swings both ways regarding the gender that can wear it but like every Diptyque perfume, just two spritzes are enough.

The Filorga Age-Purify Double Correction Fluid (and its entire line actually) has one pretty lofty claim — it is purported to work on both wrinkles and acne. That is a bit of a strange thing to claim because both facial irregularities usually require a different set of ingredients for treatment.

This fluid works because it simultaneously peels and smoothes at the time. The former action sloughs away dead skin cells while reducing pore size and the latter, plumping and hydrating. To be frank though, it’s not as effective as going for an aesthetic treatment and some patience is needed for results. Perhaps, because the ingredients that catalyse the peeling action ranks as a lower formulation volume than the ones that soothe.

I’d give this product at least three weeks — used at night only – to really see results. It works the best if you treat it as a non-sensitising chemical exfoliator.

The Grooming Editor Approved Products of June 2021 glow recipe clay mask
Like every Glow Recipe product out there, this one smells exactly like watermelons and in fact, we’re wondering what took the brand so long to produce a clay mask. But the Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial was worth the wait, it’s truly one of the few clay masks out there that really cleanses the skin without overtly stripping it. While people with oilier skin types would benefit from a clay mask that’s stronger, this one is quite made for everybody else.

Another feat I particularly enjoyed was how using it accelerated the fading of pigmentation on my face thanks to the use of BHAs and PHAs in it. Used on its own, it still performs this feat albeit slowly and since you’re only using it twice a week, it will not cause sensitisation.

The Grooming Editor Approved Products of June 2021 gucci 1921
Gucci 1921
is a wonderful smelling chypre-floral fragrance which in itself, is pretty impressive to me. Most chypre-florals are either formulated with either of the notes being too overbearing but Gucci 1921 hits the sweet spot. It’s easy to understand (zesty citron and green oakmoss), it has something bitter to give just the right kick (neroli) and something savoury that stops it from smelling to chypre or floral-like (lemon verbana).

One small thing I have to note though would be that the scent really differs depending on your skin type. Mine is oily which means the dry down is almost floral powdery while another editor who has dry skin reported a green-like aquatic note.

To be frank, Salvatore Ferragamo perfumes aren’t usually very interesting. I’d even go so far as to call them “HR-friendly” perfumes, likeable and palatable but not particularly groundbreaking. Oceani di Seta however (it’s part of a quadruplet of perfumes inspired by the Italian House’s silks) has made me think otherwise.

It’s incredibly smart of Ferragamo to create a new scent inspired by la dolce vita because that itself, is a great way to story tell with a fragrance. This one has sea salt, magnolia petals and heliotrope — three ingredients we usually associate with the beach and sun soaked days under the sky. As for its sillage, it’s incredible; all you really need is just one spritz.
