#TheObsessions — Fashion Designer Putri Adif Shares Her Favourite Things
What makes some of these local or global creatives tick? In this weekly column, fashion designer Putri Adif shares her favourite things.

1. Spicy Salmon Mentaiko & Truffle Fries: One of my comfort foods because anything with salmon or truffle makes me happy like sashimi or smoked salmon or truffle pasta and fries. This salmon bowl is from Oyster Bank.

2. Batik Pieces: These are batik pieces that I have made myself or have seen in my mother’s closet. I love the beauty of the hand-drawn or stamped fabric with its colours and symbols.

3. Collecting Archival or Vintage Clothing:  I have an overflowing closet full of archival pieces at the moment. Not only is this practice sustainable but each piece has its own magic that comes from the brand’s history. Brands I particularly like are JPG, Roberto Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood, Gucci, YSL, Lanvin, Marni, Blumarine, Bottega Veneta, Thierry Mugler and more.

4. A 1990s Lip Combo:  I just wanna feel like Kate Moss in the 1990s and the 1990s lip combo is one of my favourite.

5. Emma Chamberlain’s Vlogs:  Emma is my favourite girl with the most relatable vlogs but I just can’t relate to her massive five million dollar mansion though!

6. Julian Hakes Heels: My latest obsession are collectable archival heels from Julian Hakes. I did not buy any of them full-priced and these are all secondhand. Architectural 3D design heels are pretty crazy.

7. Woody Fragrances: Woody fragrances give me a feeling of calmness as an anxious person myself. Paolo Santo or Ebony wood by Zara x Jo Malone Eau de Perfume are my favourites.

8. Dyeing Her Hair:  I’ve always had a bad relationship with colours but since I have dyed my hair red, it has made me more experimental with it when I style or when I view it in design.

9. A Home with A View: It speaks for itself as it would be such a dream for me to go to bed and wake up with a view everyday. Andaz Hotel is one of my favourites.

10. Picnics: There is something about having picnics by the beach or at the park with an open view. Laying with the sun on my skin and breezy winds, staring aimlessly at the sky with no words said with my phone set aside. It’s nice to let your mind wander and daydream within the chaos we are in.
