Kim Jones Wants Us to Carry Maxi Bags and Hiking Sandals this Season

  • By Bryan Goh

Designers usually belong in either of two camps. The first are the uber creatives who tap into the zeitgeist of what is happening in the world while dishing out fiery sneaker collabs. The other, the tasteful puveyors of fine tailoring who keep their ware and tailoring consistent: they’ll help you defy your age and the hands of time. Kim Jones, is the dude (ok fine, the man) who sits in the middle of both.

To make our point perfectly clear, kindly refer to the picture above. The outfit has the exciting electricity of youth coupled with the kind of masterful flou only deft hands are able to construct. Now, look lower.

That our friends, are a pair of sandals dubbed the Atlas sandals. Also known here on this humble .com site as the hiking sandals you’d be pleased to wear this season.

Reminiscent of Tevas sandals (chunky! manly! eleganza!), they come finished with chunky, triple layer rople soles and thick straps on the upper: taking cues from the California Surfer meets Rich Old Benevolent uncle look that he has made a thing of his own.

And yes, it comes with the CD Icon Logos.

In the baggage department though, is Kim’s latest interpretation of the Saddle Bag titled aptly, the Maxi Saddle. Functional from the shoulder strap right down to its removable smartphone case (no one carries a wallet out anymore….right?), it can even be carried for the first time as a messenger bag.

If that doesn’t ignite desire in you, the collection has fully dropped at the brand’s stores in Singapore. Word’s on the street that the bag mentioned above already has a waiting list.
