The Gucci Doraemon Collection Will Please Both Boomers and Gen Z-ers
A baby boomer, millenial and Gen Z-er walk into a room. What do they disagree on? Probably the age old debate on minimum wage and politics. What can they agree on though? It’s that the Gucci Doraemon collection is in a millenial’s words, “effing cute.”

And there is a lot of cuteness to go about with this collection — a dedicated one with special items that celebrates the anniversary of two cultural behemoths: the 50th anniversary of Doraemon and the 100th anniversary of Gucci.

But how does a 100 year old Italian fashion house incorporate a cat-type robot from the future into its designs? The answer to the Gucci Doraemon collection is pleasingly simple: it features said cat in his classic blue colour over the GG motif.

Debuting January 12 (in stores and online), the campaign, shot by photographer Angelo Pennetta is a display of Gucci’s maximalist sensibilities alongside Doraemon’s signaturewhimsy nature, a transformation of everyday activities into a happy joyful adventure.

The animated icon also takes center stage alongside Gucci models in the imagery, donning Gucci’s retro aesthetic from dresses, jackets, skirts, tracksuits, leather-trimmed bucket hats, and more.

With over 50 items (yes we counted), the Gucci Doraemon collection featurest the adorable manga character in a range of poses, while retaining what made Gucci one of the hottest design houses of the era.
