Yes, the Clemmie may technically be from Mulberry’s women’s line, but as with the British label’s Bayswater tote and Alexa satchel, premium leather accoutrements recognize no gender boundaries, and we’re betting that forward-thinking gents will take to the new Clemmie clutch like they’ve embraced ertswhile “women’s” bags. These clean, streamlined clutches have a vaguely vintage, sumptuously timeless feel to them, which we adore because it means you’ll get lots of mileage out of these beauties.
Mulberry’s instantly recognizable Postman Lock is just about the only visible hardware on these oversized clutches, which means all eyes will be on the lovely leather, one of the best you can get at this price point. The Clemmie’s generous proportions also mean most average-built men can get away with using this as a portfolio in the day and a handy essentials-only pouch at evening soirees. We love how the restrained gleam of the nickel Lock on the black suede version provides just the right amount of pop, although the one in “dark blush” goat skin with tone-on-tone rose gold-hued Lock amps up the glamor just a notch without veering into flamboyant territory. Consider us torn between the two!
Available in Singapore at Mulberry boutiques from January 2013.
