That’s Stella Nina McCartney OBE for you, thank you very much
Stella McCartney has had a very good year indeed: the famously strident “no animal” designer-slash-activist has just been bestowed an OBE for her well, stellar services to the fashion world.
The daughter of former Beatles member Sir Paul McCartney made headlines earlier this year for being chosen to create the spiffy Team GB and Paralympic GB London Olympic kits—who could forget Tom Daley’s eyeball-grabbing swimgear?—before scooping up the Designer Brand and Designer of the Year awards at the 2012 British Fashion Awards earlier this month.
Her OBE must surely count as the icing on top of the multi-tasking, 41-year-old mother’s (vegetarian) cake; McCartney was one of 71 award recipients named in the Queen’s New Year Honours List 2013 released yesterday. See the full list of award-winners here.
